CW69 brings back 10 p.m. Atlanta newscast

Also mentioned here is why CW69 does not use CBS46 crew. All of this comes from the fact that CBS46 is owned by Meredith and CW69 is owned by CBS. Also CW69 is borrowing staff members from WCBS/WLNY the CBSN New York Crew. Also in this case CW69 recently started borrowing a talent from CBS Dallas operations KTVT-TV

Starting Tuesday, August 11, the station finally brought back an Atlanta newscast at 10 p.m. with a new primary anchor Katie Johnston, who is based out of Dallas.

There was one local news report from Valencia Jones, who opened Tuesday night with a piece about run-off voting and included an interview with Fulton County council chairman Rob Pitts. The other regular news pieces during the 30-minute 10 p.m. newscast were not local.

Sam Crenshaw, former 11Alive sports anchor, did a local sports report focused on the Falcons preseason camp. He joined the station in February. “I was invited to audition for it,” he said in a text Tuesday. “Thankful.”

Crenshaw worked at 11Alive (WXIA-TV) from 1998 to 2014 and has since done freelance work at Georgia Public Broadcasting, the City of Atlanta and Entercom.

Wait a minute... how is this possible? Because the WKBD 10 p.m. newscast is produced by KTVT. The 10 p.m. newscast produced for WUPA is produced by WCBS-TV New York.

CW69 is not the only station that borrows people from 2 different CBS O&O's though. CW11 Seattle does the same thing they borrow people from Sacramento and San Francisco where CBS have active news operations though.

But when CBS originally announced these newscasts would be launching, WUPA's would be from WCBS-TV, WTOG's would be from WFOR and WKBD's would be from KTVT. Now KTVT is handling both WUPA's and WKBD's?
