D-Backs home opener

First chance I've had to check out the home team on TV this year. Couple notes:

1. Why can't 3 do the game in HD? Do they not have their HD signal up yet? It seems like this year almost everyone in baseball is doing quite a few HD games.

2. I liked Darren Sutton in the booth in Milwaukee and I think he was a good hire. That being said, his overt "homerism" seemed to be a bit much tonight. Maybe I take it forgranted, but it seemed like Brennaman kept the "homer" thing a little more subdued. Is Sutton trying to hard to fit into his new surroundings? Is it even fair to compare him and Thom B?

I saw a commercial where 3TV is going HD later this month, don't remember the date. Not sure if it's just the news or all programming possible.

I think they're going to later this year. Not sure of Fox Sports Net is equipped to follow suit.

Brennaman went out of his way to show his independence. But unlike Sutton, he received paychecks from both Fox and the team, which allowed him more leeway. The announcers also get less freedom to criticize under Ken Kendrick than they did under Jerry Colangelo. From what I understand, that was one of the reasons Brennaman left for Cincy, plus being able to work with his dad.

Regarding the "interview" Sutton & Grace did with Bud Lite last night, remember a few things:

(1) The announcers are employed by the Diamondbacks, not KTVK or Fox.
(2) Bud Lite was sitting with D'backs part-owner Jeff Moorad (aka "The Boss" - or one of them at least) during the game.
(3) The D'backs are trying to get the All-Star Game for 2011. Bud Lite makes that decision. There's no way the team allows their guys to ask the tough questions until he decides later this year.

Do the math. ;D

KTVK Goes HD With Most Local News in the U.S.

Powerhouse Indy with #1 Local News in Arizona is one of First Stations in HD

PHOENIX - KTVK joins an elite group of early adopter television stations across the country to pioneer its local programming in high definition beginning April 26, 2007.

KTVK will produce fifty-one hours of local news a week in high definition, more than any station in the country. This includes a M-F 9:00 p.m. newscast produced for KMSB, KTVK's sister station in Tucson, which will also be broadcast in HD.

[EDIT]

Viewers with questions about high definition television can visit KTVK's special section on its website, azfamily.com.

Good luck finding that page on their website..!!!
-Anyhow, FOX Sports Net does carry the games in HD... but you must have a HD dish, or COX HD with the appropriate package.

-Will Ch. 3 be broadcasting their games in HD? Depends on which truck they use at the stadium. Several in the valley have the capacity to do so... but it's all about $$$$$

But I can't wait to see Beverly Kidd in HD. Yummy!

I have COX digital, but, unlike ESPN, Fox Sports AZ does not have a dedicated HD channel. They will occasionally air a game in HD and FSAZ will tout that when it happens. It's not a regular occurance, which is unfortunate. I hope FSAZ goes to HD full-time soon.
