D&C Gives TIS No Respect

Well, not to outdo its already shabby coverage of the local media scene, the D&C managed to tell its readers that important traffic information about the upcoming season of highway construction can be found on 610 AM. Duh... turn that 6 upside right and you get a 9... 910 AM to be exact.

Meanwhile, a second transmitter has been inaugurated for the east side on 1610 for DoT messages because the one in Webster was insufficient (and is now subject to lots of interference from the Thruway's own new network of TIS stations for greater Rochester on the same 1610 frequency.) The Thruway Authority is now running three transmitters at the exits to greater Rochester. It makes for a real mess on 1610 unless you are close to a transmitter.

Here is the roundup of stations carrying traffic info here.

WPYT547 - 910 (1 transmitter - city of Rochester)
WPWC517 - 1610 (2 transmitters - city of Rochester & Webster)
(NYS Department of Transportation)

WPZN807 - 1610 (3 transmitters - Henrietta, Victor, & LeRoy)
(NY State Thruway Authority)

Exact locations
WPYT547 - I-490 at Mt. Reed Blvd Interchange (R)
WPWC517 - #1: NY Rte 590 at NY Rte 104 Interchange (R)
WPWC517 - #2: NY Rte 104 at Salt Road Interchange (W)
WPZN807 - #1: I 90, Milepost 362.37, on the NY State Thruway, At Exit 46 Toll (H)
WPZN807 - #2: I 90, Milepost 350.9 on the NY State Thruway , At Exit 45 Toll (V)
WPZN807 - #3: I 90, Milepost 378.48 of the NY State Thruway, At Exit 47 Toll (L)
