D & C LOCKOUT OVER!!!

Boston Sports Media/Scott's Shots has a running blog on D&C including links to Herald and Globe
articles.

>>. . . To the best of our knowledge, the eight figure deal being thrown out is the pair's combined deal. Each man will be paid in the high-six figure range, with ratings bonuses that could to push the deal over a cool mill for each.

Heard about 15 minutes of Dennis and Callahan's phone interview with Tom Brady this morning. Is it in their agreement that neither D or C can bring up his recent fatherhood?

Perhaps, they talked about later but seems like a logical question for them to ask Brady after a review of yesterday's game and or upcoming games. Sort of like the 10,000 lbs. elephant in the room that no one mentions.

Brady is a role model whether he likes it or not. Just ask Matt Damon's 12 year old nephew who had his picture taken with Brady last week and which appeared in the papers. The kid was in awe of Brady and I am sure thought of him as a role model as many other 12 year old boys must.

Welcome back to the Metco Gorillas. ;)

Good point. They also seemed to have an agreement not to discuss Darfur, international currency arbitrage, the weather in East Rutherford, and Britney Spears. Instead, they wasted time talking about, get this, football.

I assume you are aware that Brady is being paid to discuss pro football in general and the Patriots in particular.
If that is the case, just what, exactly, did you expect the conversation to be about...

"Well, Tom, how do you like fatherhood?"
"It's swell !"
"Sure, but is it as swell as that offensive line?"..................

On this, as in so many other things, it may be time for you to move on.

Back strong . . .

After listening to portions of the show today, I have to say that they picked up right where they left off. Callahan's voice is still a little rough, but both he and John were sharp and fresh in every other way.

Here's why the show works; it's entertaining. This show is not about in depth analysis of football, pitch counts, or anything else. It's about diversion; keep me entertained enough that I'll stay with you through the next commercial segment.

The guys are very good at that, which is why they command big money.

What sport was the Metco Gorilla playing ? :D

If the Metco Gorilla was a pass rusher for the Jets, Brady may well have been asked about it. But it isn't, so I guess that was why it didn't come up.

By the way, since today isn't your day for reading comprehension, I'll help you out. Brady is the one paid to talk about football.

I know the Metco Gorilla story is one of your favs, but, like all dull axes, after a while it just doesn't cut it as your 'all-purpose-response' to anything about D&C and just gets wearisome.

This is why whenever you post another paeon to Jerry Williams, folks don't preface their remarks by mentioning the Lottery bag job. Nobody cares any more.

Hey, TS you forgot to mention the Cuban heals. You are such a Howie suckup . Jerry Williams is dead which is more than can be said about Howie. ;)

Hey, TS you forgot to mention the Cuban heals.

Probably because I have no idea what that is supposed to reference. Whatever it is, I'm sure you must have found it a life-altering experience.

You are such a Howie suckup .

Huh? I think you must have me confused with someone else. All I've ever said about Carr is that he is successful at what he does, which is evident to just about everyone, except the terminally delusional. But then, I thought this was a discussion about D&C. You may want to reconsider the advisability of multi-tasking in your postings.

Jerry Williams is dead which is more than can be said about Howie.

I guess this is supposed to mean something. I'll leave it to others to figure out exactly what.

If you can find a continuing ed course in snappy repartee or clever rejoinders, you may want to consider signing up. You seem to be a little rusty.

Definitely. He posted something about D&C without once using his favorite insult, "Hibernian bigot."

It's really worth nothing now, but did anyone else pick up that at the end of the AllAccess story, it mentioned that had "another station" gotten the rights to D&C, they would have flipped to sports today.

Any ideas on what station it was? Could it have been left over from the WCRB rumor mill, or was it possibly WBCN or WBMX? Whichever station it was (almost certainly one of those three), could they be throwing around some ideas for a switch?

Well, I flipped on the station yesterday morning, heard Callahan's fixed up voice and immediately shut the radio off. I woke up this morning at 7:45 just in times for headlines, which I like, but within that short time called gay people abnormal and put them on the same level as a pedophile.

Well, John and his co-host are back.

Callahan has also called them perverts, in the past. I wonder if he doth protest too much... see: Sen. Larry Craig.

That's the case with about 99.99999999999 % of the people who shouts from the rooftop about how bad/immoral/wrong/blah blah blah being gay is. Eventually it surfaces.

Wouldn't that be hilarious? I've also heard him liken gay marriage to bestiality, so perhaps we should post his picture on the Minneapolis board and see if anyone spots him.

In all seriousness, I heard a rumor about which station it was and it was not one of those mentioned above. But the station HAS been rumored to be considering a flip to sports in the past -I can say no more, other than to say the parent company has a history of coming in second that rivals Alydar.

first there was rumors it was 98.5/CBS but more recently someone speculated 92.9/GreaterMedia

as for the Hibernian bigot stuff, let us take a moment to remember the first official victim of the 9/11 attacks,
who was also an Irish-American.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mychal_Judge

Judge was Irish, Catholic, and gay. No word on whether Callahan made any remarks about him today.

>>Upon hearing the news that the World Trade Center had been hit by hijacked jetliners, Father Mychal rushed to the site. He was met by the Mayor of New York, Rudolph Giuliani, who asked Judge to pray for the city and its victims. Judge then rushed to those lying on the streets to administer last rites. Father Mychal then entered the lobby of the World Trade Center north tower, where an emergency services command post was organized. The south tower collapsed and debris filled the north tower lobby, killing many inside, including Father Mychal.

too funny. ;D

but as Jeff Jacoby says, he's not a hypocrite because he's trying to stop.... lolol

Not a huge fan of D&C, but I did listen w/curiosity these last two days just to see what the transition would be like. It was pretty much the same as it was before. Monday was a love-in with some veiled references to the Pats and Sox. Tuesday was a reminder of 9/11 before some sports talk, which I missed because I had to go to work. In the end, the show is what it is and I'll be listening to Mike and Mike for sports talk or flipping around the FM dial for something to amuse me on my commute to work.

Oh yeah, they, and one of their callers, also routinely call homosexuals "sexual deviants". Classy guys.
