The Cancer within The Bone apparently really is incurable. The next departure has been announced within...Jennifer Reed is now leaving too (for anyone that may care). She's out in two weeks for a new deal in Atlanta (96 Rock). And of course, they wish her well in this new exciting chapter of her career.

Way to Go Jennifer!

Congrats girl. You deserve it!

Sure, the Ticket would get more listeners if they were simulcast on 93.3, but right now they are doing pretty damn well as they are. Could they increase their numbers by a 2 share by adding 93.3? Very doubtful. Yet a decently targeted new format on 93.3 could indeed pull a 2. (Remember "Memories?")

And if you were to move the Ticket exclusively to 93.3 and try brand new programming on 1310, it would be very hard to replace the Little Tickee's numbers on AM.

In other words, don't fix it if it ain't broken. The Ticket is hugely profitable as it stands. Being on FM is not a guarantee of huge ratings - look at ESPN 103.3

I agree with your assessment, Eye. But maybe Cumulus wants to see if a move to FM would put The Ticket ahead of 105.3 for good. That's tempting.

Just now, Rhyner went on a rant complaining about The Ticket's AM signal and how Cumulus needs to move them to FM... interesting timing, no?

Just remember, The Ticket is also heard on 104.1.

I have a gut feeling the little ticket will be making the full move to 93.3 before football season...

I still think the obvious move is to have The Ticket & KLIF swap frequencies.
The Ticket might get a .5 or 1.0 boost; KLIF can hardly do worse than their steady 1.7 and 570's signal would be the answer for Cowboys coverage.

Unless they stay on 104.1 also coverage to the north in Grayson and parts of Collin counties will be non existant. If they do move to 93.3 they better move them back to 1700 also.

Re: If the Susq cluster was yours to change....

I like that idea...a LOT. If I was taking over the cluster, here's what I'd do:

93.3-flip to a livelier, Sunny-type format to go head to head with default AC station KVIL. Second option would be an active rock format, with NEW programmers, talent and management in place. No Bone redux. Third option would be oldies to go up against KLUV. No need to be a solid winner with it; just take enough away to pull KLUV out of the Top 10. The trick in all cases would be to bring in known talent, and spend some serious money on contests, promotions and advertising. Don't be tempted to do what everyone else does--put something new on the air, and then do absolutely nothing to promote it.

99.5-leave it alone, but re-evaluate everything from top to bottom. They rested on their laurels for too long with that station. Tweak if necessary, DON'T if it's not.

104.1-do a "Memories" format for those more affluent northern cities, and God forbid, maybe have a local flavor to it, since Denton and Sanger are no longer served by a local station. (No, I don't count McKinney-licensed KNTU as a true Denton station.)

570-move the Ticket here. 570 would be the only station in the cluster carrying Cowboys games. Evaluate any and all dead weight and bring in fresher talent if necessary.

1310-perhaps a 'hot talk' format to go head-to-head with KLLI, with heavy hitters in all dayparts. Don't just move the bargain-basement "talent" from 570 over here. Second option would be Women's Talk (ala Cafe 990.)

1700-sell it, or farm out the time to foreign language or religious interests. KSKY was a big moneymaker before they flipped to the "Everybody Hates It" format, parceling out 30-min blocks to preachers, with cash paid up front.

OH, and let's not forget the staff: obviously, anyone there that hasn't legitimately and exclusively contributed to the ongoing success of KPLX or KTCK should be dumped at once, and loaded into a plane bound for anywhere but Texas. In other words, the entire management and staff of KDBN and KLIF should be ousted. We don't need Jeff and Co screwing up another station around here. We've all been through enough grief at their expense over the years.

There was a time when a 1.7 rating meant you were 2 years too late in putting up the For Sale sign, or you had a PD or SM who was years past due on retiring. To me, there's still absolutely no pride in that, and how one can consistently keep a format and staff in place with that kind of pathetic return is a mystery to me. But I guess when you pay your "talent" $10 an hour, and promo grunts $6 an hour, and your FT office staff $18.5K a year, your overhead stays pretty low.

93.3 doesn't have to be a fulltime sports station to air the Cowboys games. KLUV wasn't.

AMEN TO THAT. A SUNNY FORMAT WITH PERSONALITY & PROMOTION WOULD BE MY
CHOICE. RIGHT NOW KVIL IS THE ONLY STATION REALLY TARGETING THE 25-54
FEMALE AUDIENCE.

THE WOLF IS A CASH COW BUT IT COULD USE A LITTLE "FRESHENING".

104.1 COULD DO WHAT KLAK IS TRYING TO DO. A REAL "LOCAL" ADULT A/C
HEAVY ON COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN ALL THE CIVIC & ENTERTAINMENT ACTIVITIES
IN PLANO, ALLEN, FRISCO AND MCCKINNEY COULD BE A MOM & POP BUSINESS
SALES MONSTER.

THE KEY FOR THE COWBOYS AND THE TICKET IS THE SIGNAL. DEAD-WEIGHT AT THE
TICKET IS A MATTER OF PERSONAL TASTE. THEY'VE GOT THE CHEMISTRY AND THE
LISTENER LOYALTY. THEY DON'T NEED TO "FIX" IT.

I'D JUST SIMULCAST 1310 & 1700 WITH THE BARGAIN BASEMENT "TALENT" THEY HAVE
NOW AT KLIF. I WOULDN'T CHALLENGE 105.3 AND IF I WANTED TO DO WOMEN'S TALK, I'D
DO IT ON FM.

DITTO ON THE MANAGEMENT. THE ONLY REASON THE GM (LON BASON)THAT
RAN KLIF INTO THE GROUND HAS KEPT HIS JOB IS BECAUSE HE INHERITED
THE WOLF AND WAS TOLD TO LEAVE IT ALONE.

DAN BENNETT'S REPEATED FAILURES OVER-SEEING THE BONE (AND KLIF)
HAVE BEEN JUSTIFIED BECAUSE THE CLUSTER STILL MAKES BIG $$$ OVERALL.

I THINK I'D GIVE ALICE BENNETT'S JOB.

I don't know what that means or how it relates to my comment.

All this may be true- but if you think those salary/hourly numbers are going to get bigger once the Cloud assumes control, you're drunk or nuts.
