'Daddy Wags' stepping away from QFM morning show

Is there any truth to Elliot being kidnapped many years ago ?? I have heard this a few times over the years and wondered if it's true.

Now that they won't be paying his fat salary, maybe they can lighten up on the commercials a bit.

When Wilkes purchased Q96, there were some rumors going around staff would be cut.
Wilkes in a prepared statement said back then they would keep the show because the they are popular icon in Columbus radio.

That said, I'm a little disappointed with 'Daddy Wags'. In this Other Paper article from thee years
ago, he had this to say about leaving... I believed it:

"When asked if he was planning to stick around for a while longer, he acted shaken: “Why? Have you heard something?”
Yes, folks, he’s sticking around if he has anything to say about it. “They’ll get my microphone when they pry my cold, dead hands off it,” he said."

That said, I asked a very reliable source a couple of years ago if Wags was leaving the show. I was told, after his daughter graduates HS, he may be planing on leaving the show.

Anyway, QFM had a promo this morning for the new Arch and Elliott show starting
next Monday June 10. I don't think this new show will have as high PPM numbers as the Waggs
and Elliott show had.

If I'm mistaken didn't wags just have a heart attack a couple of months ago, That would be enough for anyone to rethink what they are doing with their life. I'm sure he has enough put away to retire let the man retire, maybe he just doesn't have anymore to say.

as far as Arch and Elliot, its pretty much the same show you hear on the air now, wags has been off the air most of this spring. So i don't see much change PPM or otherwise.

And its Qfm96 :)

Yes back in October, 1997 he was kidnapped. I think it was because of a debt a family member owed.

Last year I asked the management why so long minutes of back-to-back commercials.
They told me they are programing the station for the PPM world now but that explanation went way above my head. Besides, it doesn't appear to be working for Q96 very well.

The explanation didn't go above your head, it just made absolutely no sense and the ridiculous answer confused you. The janitor in that building has a better understanding of programming in a PPM world.

I am a huge rock fan...I was a die-hard Q morning show fan back in the day also, from it's inception all the way thru the Wags era. It was hilarious listening to the skits, the call-ins (Nick, TC, Bobby Knight impersonator, etc), and I used to get up early just to tune in. I purchased most of the morning show 'best of' CD's, and I still laugh at the jokes and comedians they used to have on. Now it's just NOT FUNNY, no skits, no call-ins, and who wants to listen to some no-name comedian or obscure author discuss the state of the planet? The Torg? His voice grates on me, and again, I don't find him funny. I hardly ever use the preset for the Q. It is now a very stale playlist, with Bob Segar or the Doobies taking center stage. Granted, you are targeting only a certain demographic with classic rock, but inserting new rock, classic rock, 80's and 90's rock, etc., it keeps it interesting for a wider audience, such as 106.9 WRQK in Akron/Canton or 107.5 WEGW in Wheeling does...So for now I have signed off on QFM like alot of others, hoping Wilks will see the light at some point.........
