Daily Kos readers offer feedback on Air America

>>but no; it became clear quite quickly that this wasn't a network but a club, with hosts selected on the basis of name recognition (kennedy, franken, garafalo, chuck d) or ostensible niche appeal rather than actual skill.

>>Al is mailing it in! He doesn't even sound like he is interested in what he is doing anymore. Who knows what his salary could do to help sustain the network.

>>I find Franken just short of unbearable. But I assume he has an audience.

Who the hell cares what a couple blog readers think? Talk about trying to paint broad strokes with a narrow brush.

Is this really relevant, or has Radio Equalizer run out of stuff to write about?

This wasn't from Radio Equalizer (though maybe he'll pick up on it), it was a link (on BoreAmerica.com) to Daily Kos. Daily Kos is said to be one of the most highly regarded sources of news and discussion by the Left. It's more than a couple comments.

from the column:
>>"so why cant (sic) Air America get their (poop) together?"

>>We don't even need to name the countless schemes that the Right Wing has orchestrated to try and shut up liberal talk radio

HA! Other way 'round. The libs are trying to bring back the (Un)Fairness Doctrine to shut down conservative talk!

from the comments:

>>but here in Phoenix, our station got sold and went "Christian Radio" on March 1st. I sobbed, just sat and wept. Then, it came back a month later

Probably on a 2 watt station

>>before its launch, I had high hopes for AA, and thought that they had a can't-lose business proposition. it wasn't much of a secret that there were plenty of dems/progressives left in america and that virtually nobody was catering to them on air, let alone via a national franchise.

Nobody? NPR, Democracy Now!, the lamestream media/TV,
magazines (hello Rolling Stoned), newspapers (Boston Globe,
NY Times)

There is praise for Steph. Miller who is actually syndicated by Jones, not AAR

>>with just a bit of attention to programming quality, AA could've kicked some ass.

Anywhere from 500,000 weekly readers, to as many as 3.7 million unique visitors, rasing upwards of $1 million dollars for Democratic candidates and influencing the election of Howard Dean as DNC chair, as well as spearheading the nomination of Ned Lamont as Dem candidate for CT Senator isn't being "highly regarded"? As well as getting major Democratic candidates, politicians, the media, and everyday folks to go to Vegas for the yearly conference isn't highly regarded? Coining a new word "netroots" based on what DailyKos has accomplished isn't highly regarded?

This is according to "Kos" himself, Markos Moulitsas Zuniga:

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/12/23/24711/486

You can downplay it all you want, but its effect is fact.

The Daily Kos is a blog site where any schmuck with an e-mail address can post whatever he likes. Unlike wing-nut sites like RedState.org, it's really hard to be banned there.

I know, because I'm one of the schmucks who enjoys reading and posting at the Daily Kos.

But anyone who holds it in high regard as a news site, or believes that the cherry-picked opinions about radio of a few of that site's schmucks are more meaningful than the opinions of any other site's schmucks is either fooling himself or lying.

I also frequent Daily Kos and can testify that a fair number of conservatives post there. If you want to find their comments there's a handy way to search by "troll rating."
