Yes, Dale Dudley was “fired” [note: he would only get his 3 months severance pay for the KLBJ-AM program contract if he was “fired”] from the KLBJ-AM program. He wanted to quit the KLBJ-AM show (but not the KLBJ-FM Morning Show) for many reasons. His wife also wanted him to quit the AM side for many reasons. So, he was ready to quit and let management know that he wanted to be “fired” so he could “quit” and still get the three months severance pay. He will still be on the KLBJ-FM Morning Show.
The many reasons were:
1) His one hour program was eventually supposed to turn into three hours (but it never did).
[He even bought a condo in town to rest there between the two shows.]
2) He was told that they would cancel Rush Limbaugh and Dale would take that time slot but that never happened. He thinks that was because upper management (above Austin) did not do it.
3) He got along with everyone on the AM side except for Todd Jeffries. Todd used to come visit the FM side and sit in for a few minutes a week by walking in and adding to the show. Something happened between them (I am a daily listener and I think it was not much to it between them because I don’t even remember what happened between them) so Todd apparently wasn’t happy with Dale being on the AM side.
4) Dale’s wife (Amanda) was on the floor crying saying that she wanted her husband back so she really wanted him to quit the AM side.
5) Dale is a social liberal so he said he didn't fit in with the conservative callers on the AM side.
Those are all items that were on the radio (I have no inside information) so all of this is public information because I heard it on the radio.
