Dale Hansen Out at ESPN

Iis there anyone in Dallas Radio that is liked by the members of these boards?
[/quote]

no, everyone (95%) of everyone here just wants to feel better about themselves so they put others down. Because the people who are in radio that are on this board are so damn amazing at their job.

I just don't understand the mentality of some of the posts. There are a select few here who just bitch and complain all the time about how things are run and offer up their solution...Realistically, If your opinion mattered - you'd be in management.

The attacks and banter on certain hosts and what they do or don't makes us look like a bunch of jaded and jealous board-ops who could never make the next step.

The 1st reply to this thread offered nothing to the conversation. No insight or wisdom, no speculation on a replacement, just a narrow minded "Good riddance". Really? Good riddance? Was he that bad? Was he mean to the callers and throw a fit on air? Did he offer crap opinions on Dallas sports? I bet the answer to all of those was "No".

Anyways...
Me personally, I didn't listen to his show much. He has good credibility in this market in terms of sports, but it was hard to come back to ESPN after 12pm. I absolutely love Colin Cowherd's show (no sarcasm intended), but after that, Mike Irvin and Grandpa piss make the station un-listenable. Seriously, I'm afraid to tune back, fearing that I might accidentally hear Galloway or Irvin's voice.

Dale was much better than those 2. But it's kinda hard to shine when there are 2 big loads of poo preceding your show.

In regards to some comments made about others in this media,it comes with the territory. Who wouldn't want things sugar coated? I do agree some comments are a tad bit personal with the variety of colorful metaphors sprinkled in, however if you ever worked in a studio,.you know its very common language being used. Let me reemphasize, you had to work in a studio to understand, not an AE or a coat and tie desk jockey. They certainly are not going to warp your day or place the globe in overdrive spinning out of control. If it does you are in the wrong business, and should look into missionary work. If you disagree with someone ( gee like that doesn't happen) here, then simply state why, without calling your adversary (whom you most likely never met, without calling him/her/whatever )a name, it only lowers your profile,if it hasn't been lowered enough working in todays'alleged radio". I wouldn't call negative comments, jealous, envious, etc. only stating the obvious. The way things are ran in a station now and have been ran in the past 5 years alone state that the PD's, GM's bow to a corporate office who doesn't know about the regional area except it shows that the station is owned by them and a map to find it. They stripped down the station and placed it with a watered down product that has gotten soggy with meldew, and if they can get some schmoe to buy their embellished speil and advertise on it, then thats all they care about . Programming is a label without substance. So those who praise the virture of "today's radio" <sic> obviouslly never have worked in what was radio.

That's such a subjective response. The fact is, most of us use an alias. Now if everyone here used their real name, we "might" have a respectable round of conversations on a regular basis. Ahhh, gotta blame the Internet.

lol --- well spoken, "Scott" / Robert Bass / Jim Gibbs

I've never worked with Dale or met the man so I can't comment on his personality, but I like him. Maybe it's because he knows his stuff, isn't afraid to speak his mind, and possesses a pretty strong speaking ability. Some of his editorials on WFAA have been downright brilliant.

+1. By now, you know pretty much what you're gonna get with Hansen...but who else in the amrket has the stones to REALLY call out the status quo?

KNOCK IT OFF!

I have already told you I am not Robert or Jim. Contact me via e-mail if you wish to discuss this further.

<thread topic detraction>

Hey Chris... I heard from one of your two pals today. Doesn't matter which one it was, considering what the person said. He said both of them filed a joint complaint against you yesterday, with the folks in Per. Service. Hope you listened to my advice about packing and updating that resume, because it sounds to me like your gig with KEOM is about to end. If that happens, then both of those guys get the last laugh, on you.

We now return you to the thread's original topic, in progress.

Why Dale Hansen wants to do radio is beyond me. Too many nuts in it today.
