Dale Hansen hits the 25-year mark at Channel 8 on March 25. I haven't heard back from the station on whether they'll do a tribute to him this time or not...I guess it's been five years ago since they did the Dale Hansen "Roast." Of course, it's been 28 years since he joined the market...three years at KDFW before his much-ballyhooed arrival at Channel 8. (Anyone remember the Ch 8 commercial that showed a taxi picking up Dale in front of Channel FOUR and driving him across downtown to his new home? Classic.)

From the viewer side of the screen its been a pretty good twenty-five years. Don't always agree with him, but a lot of the times I do. Over those years I come realize professional sports are a business and not a game or contest anymore. I like the coverage of the high school teams they do at Channel 8.

Dale, congratulations on going twenty-five years with out being fired.

One thing that I really like about Dale is when he has the opportunity to do one of his commentaries on a hot-topic subject that hits the sports world from time to time.

It seems like you either love Dale or you hate him, but when he does one of his commentaries, his writing skills are excellent. I've taken the time to write him and tell him how much I enjoy his commentaries and he was very kind and gracious with a reply. He says he owes it all to a high school English teacher of his. I was very impressed he wrote me back and gave credit to a teacher.

I enjoy watching Dale every night. He is a DFW fixture.
