Dallas - Ft.Worth Digital OTA Channels Logged

Regarding OTA (Over The Air) Digital Reception:

I have a standard TV and do not have an HDTV (yet) . . .

I got my digital convter the other day, the RCA DTA800B. Today I got an amplified indoor antenna, the Phillips MANT510.

Here is a list of the channels I was able to register to the converter box after doing the channel scan, ---which you do have to do initally--, to look at any digital channels. I tweaked the gain control, and got these to register:

2.1 KDTN
4.1 KDFW
4.2 KDFW - FOX 4 WARN WEATHER RADAR
5.1 KXAS
5.2 KXAS - NBC WEATHER PLUS
8.1 WFAA
8.2 WFAA - XPRESS 8.2 WEATHER
8.3 WFAA - DFW AIRPORT TOWERCAM
11.1 KTVT
13.1 KERA
21.1 KTXA
23.1 KUVN
27.1 KDFI (Not Logged Yet)
29.1 KMPX
33.1 KDAF
33.2 KDAF - LATV
39.1 KXTX
47.1 KTAQ (Not Logged Yet)
49.1 KSTR
52.1 KFWD
54.1 KLDT
58.1 KDTX - TBN
58.2 THE CHURCH CHANNEL
58.3 JCTV
58.4 ENLACE USA
58.5 SMILE OF A CHILD
68.1 ION
68.2 QUBO
68.3 ION LIFE
68.4 THE WORSHIP NETWORK

The channel's logged numbers reflect the assignment of channel numbers to the box, to make it easier for the consumer. (The actual channels for some digital stations are actually different, ie KXAS is really broadcasting digitally on channel 41, and KFWD is really broadcasting on channel 35, and KTVT on channel 19).

I bought the Zenith DTV Converter Box DTT900 at Circuit City today for $59 with the other $40 coupon I had.

The extra $10 over the price of the RCA unit is WELL WORTH IT !

I am able to easily pull in more channels with the Zenith box, and I believe the picture is better, and there are more viewing options with the Zenith box, and.... it has that pretty Blue Light that glows when it's on. :)

I now also get 27.1 and 47.1 ;D

The Zenith Box is Made in China and Marketed and Distributed by LG Electronics, USA.

So, the Zenith Box, paired with the amplified Phillips HDTV Antenna MANT510, and I'm a Happy Camper !!!

KLDT transmits their actual channel number, 54.1, rather than their virtual, 55.1? That's unusual, but not unprecedented. Still, it's not FCC-compliant, either.

Seems to me that a lot of stations that have silenced their analog signals have done this. I can think of two right off the top of my head:

WMCN-DT 44 maps to 44-1 and not 53-1.
WNVT-DT 30 maps to 30-1 and not 53-1.

I wondered about those two. But it's not just that they've shut off analog, they did so a long time ago. In less than a year, every full-power station will be required to shut off analog, but will map to their old analog channel. I also wonder if KVMD-DT in 29 Palms CA maps to 23.1 and not 31.1, and if WRNN-DT in Kingston NY maps to 48.1 and not 62.1. So what about WLNY-DT 55 A/57 D Riverhead NY, WYPX-DT 55 A/50 D Amsterdam NY, KWDK-DT 56 A/42 D Tacoma WA and WACX-DT 55 A/40 D Leesburg FL?

Also, not all stations broadcast FCC-compliant virtual channel info. KMCC Laughlin NV 34 A/ 32 D operates a digital LP repeater per STA in Las Vegas. It IDs as 32.1, not 34.1.

As for Texas (since this is the Texas TV board), are there any other digital-only stations beside KLDT that have shut off analog early, or KEYU that signed on as digital-only?
