Maybe this will put a few rumors to rest.

Found this on Yahoo News!

Infinity developed 10 replacement scenarios, from celebrities to sports talk to the DJ-free "Jack" format. Flamboyant former Van Halen frontman Roth debuts Jan. 3 on seven of its stations; the flagship WXRK-FM in New York, WBCN-FM in Boston, WYSP-FM in Philadelphia, WRKZ-FM in Pittsburgh, WNCX-FM in Cleveland, WPBZ-FM in West Palm Beach, Fla., and KLLI-FM in Dallas.

Let the bitching and moaning begin!!!

let the sirius stock rise

I couldn't be more dissapointed with this. My hopes had been that Gavin would choose Adam Corrolla. He comes with the built in Loveline and Man Show fanbase where as DLR will attract listeners out of a sense of curiosity rather than out of real intrest (unless they are hardcore Van Halen fans).

DLR needs a real job..to go along with his weekend ride alongs in the ambulance. I already switched to sirius earlier this year and i'll never go back to "Free" radio again.

so I guess this means that we do not have to hear from you anymore on this board. you don't listen, you don't work in the industry, so your opinion will now count for 0.

DUDE:Lighten up. He doesn't like David Lee Roth..period. Frankly I feel it was a poor replacement as well, but time will tell. Sirius is still radio,a listener has a receiver just like those who listen to am and fm. How do you know if slambang doesn't work in the industry? Are you his accountant? Are you one of those who claims you know who he is and are actually wrong? Apparently you like LIve..uh..FREE 105.3,perhaps have some type of association there. If you do,so be it,if you don't,oh well. If you don't like Slambangs opinions ,don't respond, don't read, don't tell. c'iao.

Actually, I do listed to some local radio, mainly AM side of things for news and traffic, with the occasional talk. I was referring to the name of "Free FM" and the boondoggle it will become, not radio as a whole. Sounds like your're getting a bit personal there in the attacks.

KPLX, I appreciate you getting my back brother. I used to work on and off in the business during the mid 90s-early 00's. I left in 2001 and now pretty much focus in the IT business. I still come here to chew fat, comment on the trends in the broadcast industry and touch base with former co-workers/friends. There were many reasons why I decided to leave. One of those reasons is because its become too damned corporate, no ones afraid to take a chance or innovate anymore. Thats why I see the future of our business moving to the siriuses and XMs of the industry, ones where they face less legislative hurdles in speech and content issues.

Carolla's not really an option for stations in the Eastern or Central time zones, since he'll be originating the show from LA. Even if he signs on at 5 AM PT (and I suspect the show won't actually start until 5:30 or 6), that's 7 AM in Dallas, and you've gotta have a morning show on the air before that.

Now, what would be fascinating would be to see the Carolla show become available as a late-morning, post-DLR option to eastern stations, but that's not in the plan (at least, not right away.)<P ID="signature">______________

I understand why people may want to exit the business, but don't think XM and Sirius are having any creative breakthroughs. Small playlists (from what I listen to on my XM, at least), stale, almost nonexistent imaging/production, and a near-guarantee of commercials on music channels once they get established.

I tried listening to Ron and Fez on XM yesterday... this whole "speech and content" thing is weak. If I wanted to hear the lackluster, unfunny, uncreative, no-prep-required "F* that" jokes, I'll spend a day at a nearby high school. That's free.

This whole deal is a very bad idea, DLR is worse than Howard!

Like I said, Roth is doing it to give himself a steady stream of income. He prolly needs the money and being an EMT isnt cutting it.

Also, I listed to sirius for the music choices, mainly the rock and country formats. Most of the talk selection seem to be an afterthought.

Damn, I hadn't even thought about that.

I'll hold out hope that KLLI will decide that replying Carolla's show from Midnight till 3 or 4 is a better option than the atrocity of Don & Mike thy had on for so goddamn long. Hell, a repeating tape of dogs barking jingle bells would have been better than Don & Mike.

D&M,the DC based ones for you just joining us, are (as my british friend says)the dogs bollocks. They have no discernible talent and are just another pointless mile marker in the virtual wasteland known as corporate radio.
