K-Soul, The Beat, K104, and KRNB has hit an all time low. They all sound horrible now. They are just boring with no energy. Nothing interesting. Hey Pittsburgh, you need a urban?...

We could take the "new r&b" version of KRNB here in Houston, so they could give Majic a run for their money.

Well, as a Classic Soul man, I would take Soul 73 over just about anything in any other city around the country.

Mr. Ric, hate to bust your bubble, but KRNB has thrown a lot of that old school back in with the new RnB, so once again, they don't sound any different from any other urban ac. Just very boring and predictable.

that's why i said the "new r&b" version, before they placed back the old songs in their playlist. i liked it like that when i used to stay up there back in the fall.

How is Majic 102.1 sounding now? Do they still have mixshows?

The absolute same. I'd say it sounded better when Clear Channel owned it. They still have the mixshows friday and saturday nites 9 til midnite.

Well that's more than what KRNB has.

This just in...... K104 has just added a new mixshow, and this time, its on a FRIDAY NIGHT!!!! DJ Throwdown Sam & DJ Hollywood are mixing on the mixshow. The last time I heard K104 having a mixshow on a Friday Night is probably when DJ Reggie D used to DJ on the radio station back in the early 2000s before DJ Steve Nice came on the seen.

Don't even mention Reggie D. He couldn't mix flour and water. He sounded like some of those New York djs, but instead of dropping bombs between each song, he would just holla, "Boy!".

I have to admit, both stations put it down this weekend.

K104 and their new Friday night mixshow, and "Street Swag Sunday".

On the 97.9 side, M-Squared showed out Friday night and tonight on the "Swag Sunday Mix". Last but not least, my boy Dj Phil finished it off on the "Swag Sunday Mix".

Now I'm listening to see what Dj Tiger do on K104's "Street Swag Sundays".

I hope I can keep saying good things about these stations.

Was listening to K104 Sunday and Monday. No mixing on "Street Swag Sunday", and no mixing at 5pm. So what? K104 is determined to be a "mixless" hip hop station?

I had the chance to listen extensively to Dallas radio recently. I think of the 2 urban ACs, KSOC sounds the best. It seems to be the most consistent. KRNB is a dull urban AC now, they totally moved away from the New Urban AC they were playing for a few years. If I lived in Dallas, however, I don't think I would really listen to anything else but Soul 73 which is one of my favorite stations in the U.S. (and still no website or stream).

The only thing I don't like about Soul 73 is they play maybe 3 songs tops and then a ton of commercials.

I don't mind the commercials so much on Soul 73 because I love the old-time jingles and voicers they mix with the commercials. This station needs a stream!

If the commercials can keep them alive as one of the few true urban oldies stations left anywhere, I am happy to see a heavy spot load. :)

I would love to see Service go to the original plan,

Take the music off of KKDA and put it on KRNB and make KKDA a black talk station.

I would hate to see any of the original character of KKDA-AM lost with a move to FM, I am not aware of any Urban Oldies stations on FMs anywhere across the country. The station does have some talkshows currently.

KKDA was not going to move to fm....The original plan was to just take the music and put it on KRNB, and make KKDA a straight black talk station. Somewhere the plan got changed.

Personally, I am glad that they decided not to do it. It is amazing that KKDA-AM has survived has long as it has. It is the local ownership I am certain. Most companies killed off their AM urban music stations long ago. There are just a handful of urban oldies AMs left. In the just released PPMs, KKDA-AM was above a 1.0, the highest I have seen in awhile. There are alot of ads on the station as mentioned, but it is mostly national advertisers.

I wish they would have done it because I would love to have a black talk station. I love Willis Johnson in the morning. I have to admit that I don't listen to music radio much anymore. I love to see Dallas/Fort Worth have a black talk station, but hopefully we could get a mix of conservative and liberal talk.
