DAN AVEY

I find it incomprehensible that nobody on this board has noted the passing of an iconic Los Angeles broadcaster and stellar human being. Dan Avey passed away on Sunday. I won't list his bio or his vast accomplishments here, since it appears those who post here are only interested in music and are oblivious to the world around them. You might try a search of Google and Google News for a bit of elucidation.

It is surprising that not more than one has made a comment on the passing of
A Great Broadcaster!!

Don Barrett's LARadio.com has a lot on Dan's accomplishments and
a number of comments from those that knew Dan Avey and worked with him.

Most recently listened to him on Marc Germain's podcasts. Not only a fine, fine newsman, but a heck of an interesting guy who led a fascinating life...

Dan showed this new engineer how the KFWB mobile units were used by the reporters. He had a ton of stories while we cruised the city looking for news.

Thanks for the smiles, Dan! We miss you!!!

A Celebration in Memory of Dan Avey's Life Friday Augusgt 27th

From Twitter:

A Celebration in memory of Dan’s life will take place from 4-7pm on August 27th in the Empire Room of the Sportsmen’s Lodge for all those who knew and loved him.

In keeping with Dan’s enormous sense of humor, he would not want us to be sad, rather he would want us to roast him, toast him and recall his many funny adventures despite the fact that he leaves a big hole in our hearts.

Sportsmen's Lodge - Empire Room
12833 Ventura Boulevard
Studio City, CA
