Dan Babich

.... it's been awhile since i've been here . . . so, I do hope all is well with you & yours.
It is with Heavy Heart to let you know that Dan Babich Passed Away this Dec. 14.
....from what I've been told, Dan was in bad health this last month & died of a
Heart Attack. Like many of us, Dan was a Treat to listen to. His show "The International
Hour" was ..... for a time, was enjoyed by many who loved to listen to his mix of
music from The Old Country . . . . be it in German, Hungarian, Slavic, etc. ....& who can
forget that "Voice" after the start & near the finish of some songs . . . . "Babich International" !
I am Proud to Say that Dan Babich was a one of a kind Friend to have & to know. His
knowledge of music from the old country was Truly Amazing! ....which by the way, (if anyone is
interested), I managed to aquire some (not many) Taped Reels of his Program in which i'll
be transfering to Digital. If you're interested, let me know!
.... like many of my Radio Peers, I Shall Miss Him Greatly!
Whereever You Are Dan, ...... I do hope you're doing ok ! You Will Not Be Forgotten!!!
Descanse en Paz, Mi Amigo!!! :(

RIP, Dancin' Dan. :'(

The Giant 580 was never the same after the format flips (to country, then espanol)
which did away with Dan's show.

It was a strange show (beyond my demo), but something made me want to listen.

One of a kind, kept traditional music alive for a lot of people. You run across programming like this and it's something everyone should sample because you always hear some gems. Thanks Dan.

I am so sorry to hear this. I have been trying to get ahold of Dan for the last couple of months- I lost his phone number when my phone broke :(

Dan was truly a pleasure to be around. He always entusiastically and generously supported me with all of my Slavic ventures in Tucson. I was really hoping to have him spin records again at an upcoming Slavic Heritage Festival February 2012. It will be so sad to have a festival without him. What a loss to our community.

I will be thinking of him at every Slavic occasionl. My prayers are with him and his family.

Eternal memory ++++

Babich International was a time tunnel trip to radio's theater of the mind and we dug it every Saturday on the Marana blowtorch! A tip of the fez to one of Arizona's great radio personalities.
