Dan Bennett days numbered????

Dan Bennett does not have a longterm life with the Cumulus folks. While he was out a few months back, management came in and sat with Wolf PD. Wolf PD did not speak kindly of Dan. Said it would run better without him and that all he cares about is the Ticket. Now with Wolf having a good book, PD Cook said it was because he didn't listen to Bennett.

I have a feeling dans going to be in the breadline sooner or later. His main focus over the years at the cluster over the years has been the ticket and he let the quality of the other group stations suffer.

Agreed. Dan Could have done a lot with KLIf,but he let it languish.

All of you are right about Bennett and his preoccupation with the Ticket. The others have had virtually no marketing, no real commitment. And speaking of marketing (and cross-promotion) don't you find it odd that 1700 AM is almost never mentioned? In its first run as KKLF, then simulcasting the Ticket, and now back to simulcasting KLIF, the ID is there, but that's all: "KLIF Dallas, KKLF Richardson, with "1700" never being mentioned. (Okay, 1700 is mentioned on the KLIF website, but it's WAY down at the bottom of the page.) Since the whole idea is shoring up their coverage to the north, that's just dumb.

The ratings thread I posted yesterday has disappeared, but the Ticket and Wolf are numbers 2 and 3 in adults 25-54, the demo that most advertisers buy.
I don't want to say that Cumulus would be stupid to replace a GM that got them to that point, but, uh, well, they would...

Dan Bennett has a big $$ target $$ on his back. When he's given the boot it will be because he makes too much money. Cumulus has no problem keeping losers on the payroll as long as they work fairly cheap. However they DID do one thing right. They got rid of Lon Basin. He just was way in over his head. He's acceptable for Brownsville or Austin, NOT DFW.

Bennett's a loser?
Okay, whatever dude.
He's got 2 of the top billing stations in the market. One of THE highest rated stations overall. If he's a loser, what GM in this market would you classify as a 'winner"?

Don't give Bennett credit for the Wolf. Smokey Rivers and his staff have kept that going in spite of Dan.
Dan Bennett wanted Sports Reports every 20 minutes on Wolf Morning and Afternoon Drive. He also wanted them to stop playing Willie Nelson because a client thought he was a bad influence to childern. Bennett was lucky that the Wolf gang wouldn't listen to him. There's a reason the staff doesn't listen to him. Think anyone on the Ticket takes him seriously?!?! Please.

Dan also let both the Merge/Bone(in cooperation with scott strong) and KLIF faulter for so long...It was dan who decided for the whole "fox news" presence, as well as hiring all the local "talent" on their as well.

Smokey Rivers is one of the nicest guys you ever want to meet in our business and much of the success of the WOLF should go to him. Dan Bennett played too many favorites and he is a disciple of the Master of Grand Illusion, taking credit for the efforts of others.

Didn't say he was a loser. Said he had a big target on his back. He makes too much money. That's why he will be let go. Dan Bennet is no loser. Lon Basin IS.

Talk about Grand Illusion - Yes Smokey is one of the Nicest Guys in the industry - but giving him credit for much of the Success of the Wolf ?? blah blah blah

Now that IS a laff!!! Smokey being the success behing The Wolf? haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :D

I'm really surprised he's lasted as long as he has. KSCS sounds so bad now. Their imaging is reallly laffable. The Wolf wins by default because the Wolf doesn't sound as good as it once did. Kinda sounds like when Smokey programmed it with a few of the original pd's ideas.

Darn, you guys don't like Smokey..shucks. He still has maintained its success there for quite awhile. Sure he has made some errors but none the less he had the passion to keep things flowing right which equaled the station's success.

Is Dan getting the ax?? He made a big mistake keeping the Bone on the dial!!
