Dan Falato

I believe he stayed in the organization working on "other projects." I know he produced the Second City show for a time (which Dahl claimed to have a piece of). Dahl seemd to imply he was sniffing around the Program Director job.

Yeah, I can def see him get that job. We'll see what happens with CKG.

WCKG truly dead now.

There is no job for Dan, WCKG is truly dead without Mancow. I wouldn't mind Adam Corolla in the mornings but they won't do that.

Infinity has 2 situations on their hands:

1) What format to flip to.

2) Plug Stever in at another Infinity station or release him.

Why do people on this board continually trash Steve Dahl. For 27 years he's been on the air, most if not all, rated in the top 5 of the demos he targets. He's outlasted the Brandmeiers, the Murphy's, the Matthews and everyone else who try to battle him. Sure he's number 2 now in males 25-54 behind AM 1000, but come end of the baseball season, the coming of Boars and Bernstein (maybe spelled wrong)to the afternoon on the SCORE, stealing some their audience, and the White Sox moving to the Score so the trio of AM 1000 not having a strong follow up show, he'll be back on top of that demo again soon.

Whenever people thought he was out and done with, he always came back stronger. Why can't everyone realize this? For 27 years he's been strong here in Chicago. And this comes from someone who stopped listening to Dahl and other talk radio in the afternoons

Very true. So, why bash him after all those years of success? Because now, his existence has an apparent influence on what other talent, if any, comes to WCKG. It's as if he's been given a degree of say over who does and does not get to ride on the Titanic with him. It might actually do himself and Chicago radio some good to relocate to another Infinity station while 'CKG goes to ashes.

Phil and Big Brother: I'm not trashing STEVER!!!

If you guys read my post, I'm not trashing Steve -- to the contrary. Everyone knows Steve is the only asset that WCKG has! I'm simply wondering if they will plug him in somewhere (Score, US-99, XRT) or will they re-build WCKG around him. Re-building New Orleans might be an easier task.

STEVE DAHL IS BY FAR THE MOST TALENTED PERSON ON CHICAGO RADIO!!!!

LONG LIVE STEVER!!!!

How could you think I'm trashing Stever -- look closely at my screen name and you'll know I'm not a Steve hater! Can I serve you up a piping hot plate of Eggs Danny Thomas style? They are tasty!!

Really, I point the finger more at Infinity than Steve. I tend to agree that no matter where Steve ends up, he'll do fine.

Don't forget, there were survivors from the Titanic. He would end up one of them.

Agreed, Steve will do just fine. There is a reason he has some power @ CKG. Most of the people that listen to Steve, have been listening to him for 25 years. So they are involved in his life. From being an alchoholic to getting sober. They are all interested in how his boys grew up etc.

No matter where he goes, he will be fine. On the other hand, I don't see CKG going anywhere either. I think they are fine with their talk format. They just need to tweak it a little bit.

WCKG: How could they suck for so long and not flip?

Of course Steve will be fine, he's the KING OF CHICAGO RADIO!!!

> I think they are fine with their talk format. They just need to tweak it

What would you do? Mornings and middays are a buster.

From 2pm to 4am, they are in good shape. At 4am they play the previous day's Jim Cramer business show -- Another typical 'CKG dumb-ass move, who wants to listen to yesterday's stock analysis?

Stern at 5am is gone.

At 10 am I tried giving Pete a try, but he is just plain boring. And the chick he has with him is aweful.

So the 10 hours (4:00 AM to 2:00 PM) is where they are screwed.

P.S.

What pisses me off more than anything is how they always screw up their syndicated shows. I complained about this months ago when they were running week old O'Reily Factors. But a few days ago they replayed a John & Jeff from earlier in the week.

How could they care so very little about what goes on the air?

Bottom Line: 'CKG sucks, if they want to save money (and Infinity loves to save money) just play syndicated shows 20 hours a day, go local with Steve and be done with it.

Simple, the station is being sold (advertising) and the billing is pouring in, off of Howard and Stever.

The rest is filler, and a chance to recoup (be cheap) on what they outlay for Howard & Stever.
______________

He has a following after many years.

Not from a programming standpoint, but a business standpoint, they are an overbloated, high overhead operation. When someone (bean counters) realize it and think it is time to take action, you will see the action of low overhead and less billing (WJMK #2).

Not saying it is right, but considering the industry knee jerk decisions lately......
______________

It is possible they changed over at 12:45 today.

I was out in the burbs somewhere. Pete McWacky was off for 5 minutes and they came back on and played a bunch of commercials. The transmitter was up the whole time, it was just dead air. Then, at 12:45, the transmitter went dead. Only static and bleed from other stations, for about 15-20 seconds. When it came back on, it was louder and even better sounding. *Something* changed, but I don't know what.
