On the season opener of the syndicated "Pro Football Weekly" series based on the magazine, the show's panel was asked to predict the outcome of the NFL season opener, tonight's game between Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings against the defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints.
Stressing the way they lost the NFC Conference Championship last year to the Saints, Chicago Bears Hall of Fame lineman Dan Hampton suggested the Vikings "need to go down there and hit that town like Katrina":

Days later, Hampton issued an apology on the publication's website:

In the same exact episode, just moments earlier, in breaking down how the NFC East will fare this year, Hampton favored the New York Giants, and added that the Dallas Cowboys "think they are Clint Eastwood, but they're more of the Brokeback variety," referring to the movie about fictitious gay cowboys:
