dan le batard suspended...

interesting...

this is great publicity for le batard. he pulled off a very funny stunt. i heard the genesis of it on his show and didn't think he would follow through with it. it seems harmless in a 2010 style snarky & trolly way. sure it's self serving but it shakes up the status quo.

i read espn's public statement on the suspension - fair enough. albeit, it's true or equal motives are probably tied to getting ratings ala the "tune-in" to the SAS apology. i'm sure there will be heavy promos for the le batard return show on monday.

i hope le batard comes out firing on monday with his tongue firmly in his cheek - mock outrage at his suspension, getting outraged ohio fans on his show, etc...

he's been fantastic on twitter this afternoon/evening.

Do you think this is a "fake" suspension like some morning shows used to do? It seems like an odd one since no one was really "offended" by the billboard.

no. it was a real suspension. le batard penned a good article about it today on espn.com. if you buy it, his real mistake was his idea to go to akron & not clear it with his supervisors. again, fair enough.

the only real complaint i have is that it seemed like an on air apology would have been better. howerver, SAS had done that already so a written one (albeit more le batard's original style) was used. to me, it was just a way to garner clicks.

i only heard one promo for his show - online this morning.

his show open today was pretty funny. "more talk about manning or flacco!"

p.s. SAS is no longer listed on ESPNNY radio page. its just ryan ruocco. mmmm....
