A name that local sports radio fans might recall, Cleveland native Dan McDowell has closed out a 24 year career in Dallas as a sports talk host at KTCK, according to Radio Insight.
Dan began his career in the mid '90's as Les Levine's producer and on-air sidekick on WHK, The Voice of the Fan. When WHK was sold to Salem in 1997 he moved on to hosting his own show in Warren and then to the lonestar state where he has become a legend in his own right.
A talented, super nice guy he helped create the template for what is sports talk radio today.
He and his on-air partner left KTCK after failure of the company to come to an agreement that would allow them to pursue other digital venues in addition to their KTCK work. I'm sure we will hear from him again.
As an addenda, longtime internet radio site All Access will be going out of business next month, citing the loss of revenue from music industry advertising. All Access took the place of the industry magazine Radio and Records when they folded. Another indication of the continued contraction of the radio industry.
