I have not read these boards forever.......but I found some posts from January, so I thought I would respond.
I am on 98GOLD WIBN.....Oldies format which was executed before I got here. I have no way lead this station to a GLM-JUNIOR. The only reason one might think that is because of TV18 WEATHER AND NEWS. Why the hell not ? I have a great relationship with them as I did when I worked at glm. Our bread in butter is everywhere. We have cash business in many counties including Tippecanoe. I hope to have Illinois news and info very soon with another tv station. So our bread and butter is everywhere. Billing wise, we are doing pretty well to say the least. As far as "exile" I have to tell you, I make about what I made at glm....which wasnt too shabby......... not too bad for 17 minutes away from my home. I am grateful that I make a good living working for John Balvich. He has treated me very well for almost five years and it would take a very special offer to leave here. My job is to make sure we make money and the best radio we can for the tools that we have............and we are doing well.
I imagine if you hear me, we are doing well.........and vise versa ! so far so good.
I have learned how to sell here ( not required) and I love that too. More business, more money for me...and god knows I need it......just like you ! AFTER 30 YEARS.......RADIO IS RADIO. NO MATTER WHAT TOWN, NO MATTER WHAT STATION... I feel its the quality of life. I have worked in Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Houston, Los Angeles, Wheeling, Palm Springs, Helena, etc.............its all the same....just a bigger building, better equipment.;...........................I can deal with it.
So, at this stage of the game............... ALL IS WELL ! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE OF YOU WHERE EVER YOU ARE AT! RADIO IS GREAT. REWARDING, FEELS GOOD ETC.
