Dan O'Malley

I was glad to hear Dan O'Malley on the air this morning filling in for the vacationing Jagger Mafia. As usual, Dan was quick witted and entertaining.

Well you may be able to get used to it. With CBS's latest history I find it hard to believe that Jagger is on "vacation" completely un-announced for a week, along with the entire crew Mondo, Jasmine and Dean, they did not even mention it, even in passing last week.

It's like when BDH was "fillin" in for P&K when they went on "vacation".

Jagger was on borrowed time anyway. If he really is gone, it will suck because he was the absolute only non-sports ,all the frigin cowboy lovin, time here in DFW. Guess I'll ramp up my collection of old RMS shows on disc, I'd rather listen to RMS re-runs, rather that current sports talk 24/7.

I thought it was just me... I didn't hear anything about a vacation last week either and usually talk it up pretty good before they go on va-kay. it is also a little fishy that Greg Hill is on "vacation" this week as well freeing up K-Scott to play sidekick to Dan.

Seems to me we would have seen something on a myspace or facebook from one of the crew members and I haven't seen anything...yet.

So, not sure what is happening with Jagger but I will bet this...Pete Stein will stay in the 9a to 12 shift. CBS can't and won't afford having a guy have that many nights off while the Rangers are playing. I know he is supposed to be the clubhouse correspondent once or twice a week, but I think they want to use him in a more important role than that. As for your notion of getting rid of Greg Hill. Won't happen, unless they have another former athlete lined up and ready to go.

Jagger might not have announced it ahead of time, but Dan O'Malley posted on his Myspace page last week that he would be filling in for Jagger. So he obviously knew ahead of time.

Ok. I'll ask again, for those of us who aren't married to this board...was Dan the guy that answered Russ Martin's calls?

Yes.

Who is Dan O'Malley?

For a while, the Dan & Tasos bit was mildly entertaining. But he's just another Russ Martin wanna be. After listening to him for a while it became obvious he was just rehashing old RMS bits, but without the talent.

The guy is a phone screener getting to host a major market show while Jagger's on vacation.
He and Gavin must be real close. Or he's got pictures of Gavin with a sheep.

But I'll give him some credit. He's got more sports knowledge in his bag of tricks than Jag's whole staff. :-\

Thanks FRG. and I had the same thoughts as you, Stinky. Ok. I remember Dan and Tasos, but didn't realize it was the same kid. I seem to recall Tasos as the funny one.

I don't have a clue as to Dan's situation. Perhaps he has a bustling new career at XYZ Ad agency, and this radio stuff is just something to do for fun. I hope that's the case. It seems pretty apparent that he has no full-time, lifestyle-supporting-income career in radio.

It does seem odd that Russ' old crew are all starting to drift away from him. JD didn't show up for the band gig, and now Dan is again working at the station against which Russ vowed vengence.

Are you kidding? If you truly listened to The Russ Martin Show, how can you not know that Dan O'Malley read the news everyday? You do remember the everlasting bits where Dan would read a story re: Vladamir Putin and we heard flatulence sounds for the next half hour or so, don't you?

Jagger mentioned his vacation on the air 2 weeks ago.

I have been listening all week and have made one observation... Kevin has repeatedly stated that Jagger and crew will be back Monday but not once has he said Greg Hill will be back Monday. Do ya think Dan might be Greg's replacement? Kevin and Dan I would listen to instead of turning the radio off at 9:00. They have a certain synergy that makes them listenable.

Why would Pete Stein have a more important role? He is terrible... Not as bad as Greg "Make up stories to make myself seem interesting" Hill, but terrible. Kevin Scott is the best they have at that station, and that is not saying much. Here is a thought go out and get some real talk talent, somebody that knows how to do a great sports talk show, not the copy cats and retreads they have at "The Fan"

Although, I like Jagger & Co, I admit, I'm listening to 105.3 much less, including Jagger's show. And I somewhat like Kevin Scott, but I just can't take Greg Hill. He's awful!! I got so sick of hearing him talk about how big he is (body wise) and how "he's an athlete". Uh..he was an athlete..and one that I had never heard of. This guy acts as if he's a household name, like T O. Then add the fact that he's practically illiterate. No, I'm pretty much done with 105.3.
