Dan Patrick is as gutless as Tony Bruno

I made it a point to listen to the entire DP show today to hear if he would comment on Tony's tweet. For all his "mothership" ripping for not covering when its employees step out of line, he turns around and does the same thing with Tony. DP is a big hypocrite and I've lost a lot of respect for him.

Dan could either never cover these kinds of stories when journalists from other companies are involved or he can comment on every one, including when it involves his employer. He is so pathetic.

I am not really sure it's his place to comment on it. There isn't really any point to bring it up during his show. I would be surprised if anyone would bring it up. Very polarizing topic.

It's funny that he spent the entire show talking about Twitter. It was the poll question and he asked Bob Stoops about letting/not letting his players tweet. I just kept waiting for him to bring it up and it didn't happen.

agree with the first post. same situation as reggie miller a few years ago.

i didn't listen to dan patrick today - the hero worship & back slapping from the "anniversary" show last week put me off for a while.

at least acknowledge the bruno situation. maybe a simple statement followed by a "no comment" & "no discussion".

to the other post...a polarizing topic and not his place to comment...huh?...and michael vick, ben roethlisberger, and tiger woods aren't polarizing?

Given that Tony regularly fills in for DP (and I'm assuming that they have a personal friendship), maybe DP didn't want to inject his personal feelings into it.

Dan Patrick's there for entertainment. He's not going to be mean to his friends. Most hosts don't seem to want to eat their own. It always comes back around.

Vick, Roethlisberger, and Woods are also waaaaaay bigger names to most sports radio fans than Tony Bruno, probably.

fair enough point about vick, big ben and tiger being bigger topics and tony bruno only being a media story. it still should have been addressed in some way.

however, the original point still applies that dan patrick doesn't hesitate to criticize others at the drop of a hat.

so in the deadspin world that sports media has become, one has to be careful not to appear to broadcast from a "glass man cave".

if dan patrick and fsr was told not to address the topic, then simply say so and move on.

"Glass man cave" is probably it. ;D

I don't think I've heard any radio hosts talking about Bruno now that I think about it. All I've seen has been on the internet.
It probably happened somewhere, I just wasn't there.

No one is talking about it because Tony isn't relevant any more!

I'm sorry but his show is a shell of what it use to be. His crutch of beautiful is used more than any actual entertaining or informational point.

This isn't a big story because Tony isn't a big deal any more. Trust me if this happened ont he DP show everyone would be talking. Same as if it happened on Rome, Mike and Mike, or Herd.

Tony just is not what he used to be

Remember that DirecTV actually employs both Bruno and Patrick. Not FSR, not Premiere, not KLAC.

It was probably DirecTV that told DP to clam up and NOT bring up the subject under any circumstances.

Craig Scheman and Bob Berger mentioned it over the weekend. Berger, the bitter old man of the duo, had to restrain himself and say that the comments were unfortunate, but then went off on a "political correctness has gone too far" rant that was pretty toned down from what he would have said if had more pull at the network.
