Dan Patrick on WPEN 950 AM

I really, really think that airing a recorded show from 11 PM-2 AM Monday-Thursday with no live sports news updates from ESPN radio nor WPEN is not such a great idea. The should should drop the show and air something live in that time period.

I think the station has to honor out the contract first. Note that this was the midday show until that dream deal of yours, when GM teamed up with ESPN...

I've been reading this board for a while now, and I'm about to say something I never thought I'd say...Julius has a good point. I understand that they may have a contractual obligation to run the show, but they should find a way to do sports updates during the show. That's 3 hours with nobody giving the score or result of the Phils game.

I agree with you and Julius. Tape delayed syndicated talk programming is bad enough, but tape delayed syndicated sports programming, taping something from before the games and airing it after the games, is the height of stupidity.

Truth is, I don't ever listen to WPEN. I get my sports radio from podcasts from WFAN, which kinda contradicts my tape-delayed sports content point, but I'm just me, not programming a radio station.

Why does it take Greater Media so long to move Patrick back to mid-day and get that boat-anchor either off the air or put him on late night?

It does sound absurd to hear a game or results ... then hear a tape delayed show say "Coming up ... blah blah blah and so and so will talk to us about that match up." Duh!

I would like to be able to listen to WPEN on a full time basis and not ever listen to WIP again but this show is the reason why I'm not listening to WPEN full time for sports talk and still listen to WIP on occasion . As you know in past posts in this and other boards, I'm not a fan of WIP (use to be one in the early years of Sports Radio 610, but not now). The only time I listen to 610 is is when the Flyers and sixers are on, sometimes.

I must have missed something... Why? (Or why not?)

Does WPEN even air the TOH ESPN Radio SportsCenters live during Dan Patrick? Even when Jim Rome aired on tape delay on 1050 ESPN in New York, the local update guy did live and local updates twice an hour.

As far as I Know, I don't think so. I wouldn't know for sure because I don't listen to Patrick when he's on 950 AM.
