A few observations:
>> Rather is correct in his comments on the current state of the CBS Evening News,
including the problem is not Katie Couric but those making the news decisions.
I applaud CBS for making the bold move with Couric but they were wrong to
change the complexion of the newscast so quickly, making it too feature-oriented.
>> Moonves' comments that part of the news' ratings problem is sexism? I think
that element exists but only inside the industry. There are a lot of male news
types (and radio guys, for that matter) who are loving the fact that a female
making more money than they'll ever see isn't knockin' them dead
>> Ironic and humorous that Dan Rather's being interviewed by the organization
that's trashed him mercilessly over the years, Fox News Channel. They'll
portray him as the anti-Christ liberal commentator, then, so they can use
him for their purposes (trash the liberal media kings, rival CBS) they put him on,
as if suddenly they value his perspective.
