Dan Rather Sues CBS And Others For $70 Million Dollars

Good luck Dan trying to collect. At least take comfort in knowing that Katie Couric's ratings are lower than yours when you sat in the anchor chair.

Good Luck! and best wishes Dan...............

If Imus can do it so can you.

Your talent is wasted on the HD network but at least you are on the air.

CBS owes you a great deal and a great segment of American viewers miss you on a regularly scheduled network broadcast.

History will have you next to Murrow!

The only talent Kenneth had was his comedic talent, which he apparently thought was regular talent.

Dan's just upset that CBS pushed him out. And I'm sure the fact that Katie's making $15 million irks him too.

I don't agree with Dan politically, but I do agree with him that Les Moonves really has screwed up things at CBS News. That's why you don't have entertainment people running your news operation.

Rather was for decades a lightning rod for CBS critics, and had turned into a drag on the Evening News ratings. Basic case of "Been There Too Long." He had an amazing 44 year run at the Eye Network, but didn't know when it was time to get the hell off the stage.

Will be interesting to see if the other staffers who were thrown under the bus will file their own lawsuits.

Rather is a very wealthy man. His net worth is easily in excess of $100 million.

The real damage to CBS News occurred in the late 80's under the Larry Tisch ownership. The News division was gutted, and has never really recovered. Even more apparent to those of use who remember the Cronkite days and the army of journalists he led.

I'm a bit perplexed at the timing of this lawsuit. It has already been over two and a half years since Dan left the anchor chair and over a year since he left CBS for good. Anyone know why he waited?

Maybe he wants to get his name back out there to see if any bigger networks than "HDNet" might be willing to pick him up before he calls it a career.

So, who'll be eating the palms of the hands? I think his former bosses (Summer Redstone & Les Moonves) will be hurt the most. After Dan left CBS, Viacom was split into 2 Divisions; Paramount owns MTV, Nick, & Other associated cable netwoks, and CBS owns Showtime & Simon & Schuster. Anyway, I hope Dan will be under the spotlight once again, And CBS will kick Katie to the curb-but it won't happen immediately.

Didn't Dan-o insist on the title of Managing Editor of the CBS Evening News? As such, wasn't he responsible for making sure that stories had valid sources, and were factually correct?

I think that Dan-o is just feeling neglected, and he wants some attention. He's probably also concerned that his place in broadcasting history has become tainted. Well, I hate to tell you this, Dan, but you were only the guy that followed Cronkite anyway.

I have always thought Dan Rather was a bit funny in the head. This seems to prove it.
