Dan Segura has died

"Big Dan" or "Dan The Man" Segura died from an apparent heart attack according to KPRC-2.

He was *BIG* in many ways, and a real star in Ft. Bend County and his home town of Rosenberg. Everybody knew and loved Dan. Dan worked at KRTX/980 on the air and in sales, and over the years also hosted shows KQQK and a few others.

Dan was a good dude, and took the biz in stride. I'll miss him.

Dan was a great guy who loved his family, and loved life in general.

He had a good time no matter what he was doing.

I worked with Big Dan for 5 years in Rosenberg at the old KFRD back in the '80's. His wife is a wonderful cook, and he was always bringing something to work she had made to share with everyone.

We had a lot of laughs together... I will miss him

When I was Nick Charles on KFRD-FM, Dan was on the air at 980 KFRD. That would be 1987. Of course he had been there long before my short 2nd time around in Rosenburg.

It was 1994 and i'm in the Dean's office at The Art Institute. The Dean says to me, "have you ever thought about getting into radio?" A couple of phone calls later I was an intern at KQQK. This is where my radio career started and I have my old Dean and Dan Segura to thank for it.

Cheers, Dan. You will be missed.

:'(

Very sad to hear. Dan was a Man that took pride into what he did. I remember him from way back into the good old KQQK days. He will be missed. My prayers go to his family and friends.

Very sad to hear...Dan was a great guy and great talent...he always made me laugh with his one liners on IM when I filled in for Jonny Ramirez in the morning back in the day on KXTN. Dan will be missed by all who knew him!

Does anyone know what undertaker is handling the funeral arrangements?
