Dan York

Extremely intelligent, in a non show off way. Good interviewer.

Dan would be a good replacement for Russert. HIs mannerism, low key, direct, probably same background , hard working parents, Catholic, Catholic educated.

Dan has what the media fears saying about Russert, he came from Immigrant Parents, who cared about their family. Made them study, work hard. Something lacking with illegals, who bring their deplorable culture here, shootings in the City, wife and girlfriend possessiveness, on and on. This is why Russert was revered by many, who have a blue collar background in their fifties, sixties and older. Came from hard working WW2 generation.

OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS!

Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams will only be hosting "Meet The Press" on an interim basis.
The job is open.

You could nominate Dan by sending his aircheck to NBC News President Steve Capus in New York.
Pick a show, any show. Just roll tape.
Tell Capus Dan's story, in your own words, just as you have here.
And do it quickly.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Dan Yorke replace Russert? Are we getting a little carried away here?

I had planned on a two month hiatus from this place, but this is the post that brought me back early. Besides.... I'm a little bored at the moment....so here goes. These days I listen to Dan for all of 5 minutes each week. So I don't know if this is some idea that he conjured up, or of it's something his audience thought up.

In any event.... Dan is a local guy. He knows the issues of Rhode Island and he has strong opinions on some National things too. That's fine. But Dan is more of an entertainer than a newsman. Tim Russert was a Polished professional in the world of Politics. Politics was his life. This isn't going to be a vacancy that NBC fills with some Joe Schmo from Idaho. They are going to look for someone with a name who is in the same league as Russert. It's cute and everything to root for the little local guy. But Yorke isns't even anywhere close to being on NBC's radar. To start with....They are going to pick from a list of people that they have actually heard of. So, let's just be a little realistic about this.

Now, I personally would like to see John Depetro do one show of Meet the Press.Even though he is a contributor to the FOX NEWS Channel.

Now before anyone jumps all over me. I know it will never happen and I am just having fun with this.

Kenny

I realize that he cannot do a program like Meet the Press. It was just a fleeting thought, a comparison.

John is too arrogant, self centered, absorbed. What hard working background did he come from?? This is the point, those of us who came from that background, appreciated Tim Russert.

Yeah right. Yorke replacing Tim Russert and De Petro on Meet The Press, or in his case, Meet Da Pess.
Then we'll have Johnny Depp playing Cianci in the movies and Matt Allen on the cover of Rolling Stone.

speaking of meet "da" press, let's get Arlene in the mix. it always amazed me that with all the years she spent on the radio, her RI accent actually got worse. time for the rest of the world to endure it
