Dan Yorke, Bigot???

I tend to like Dan Yorke WPRO 3 to 7 pm . One thing really bothered me , it's not good.Dan said on his show today, he doesn't let seniors on as callers. Dan only wants young sounding people!Thats just bigoted, I'm sorry.Dan had a WW 2 Vet on about 2 weeks ago. By Dans standards, Dan shouldn't have let the Vet speak.I think this a rotten way to think about seniors. :(
 
I know that Dan kids around a lot. Was he totally serious when he said this (or) did he only say it after having a bad experience with an older caller?
 
Sky, He was serious, he said it was bad radio. He said ,many times Joe the screener will get a senior, who doesn' get the hint and the senior will stay on hold for an hour.Talk about a controled format.Talk about a phooney format, but I can't connect at all with Arlene, Sooooo. ::)

Why is the senior kept on hold an hour instead of just being told he isn't being put on the air?That's more harrassment than anything else.You may be exaggerating.There's a difference between a well informed senior with something to say and a grumbler who just wants to call in to say every politician's a bum.
 
Dans show does not allow elderly callers.
He believes they sound 'half dead' thats a quote.
The Dan York show. Controled talk radio. We can do better than that.
 
Trail and error...
I called the Dan Yorke show on friday.
Joe answered the phone, screened me , put me on hold, I hung up.
5 min later, I had my 70yr old aunt call, say what I said to the screener, she was told
they weren`t taking calls at that time. She was hung up on.
I called up , used a different first name, Joe, screener, said, ok ,turn your radio off, Dan will be
right with you.
I stopped him and asked him why, he didn`t take my aunt Carols call, just before.
He said he had to let me go and hung up on me.
Answer, Yes, the show is prejudgice to Seniors.
 
Did you hear Matt Allen doing Yorkes show today?
Matt was playing a recording of an 84 yr old woman saying he was a jerk.
I called in saying the message the old lady left was because Dan is against the old calling his
show. To my surprise Allen knew what I was talking about.
That [*EDIT] was funny.
Dan,,, let the elderly speak, YOU [**EDIT]!

This is what I hate about radio. Hosts who are to structured and to predictable. Hopefully one day Dan will realize that it's fun to mix it up a little. Let voices of different generations on the air with different viewpoints. I believe in karma. One day Dan will be elderly and nobody is going to take his call.

I hope Matt doesn't take on any of Dans traits!!
