I have been writing about Dan and his fine work with the whole Mollis , Sisto thing. It was some of the best talk radio.
Now, I'm hearing some of the worst! A VERY Myopic Yorke FIXATED on a 'sign' issue.
The state of R.I. has a close to 400,000,000 dollar debt is year.
Dan finally gets to rally the people: what does he do? He ATTACKS RELENTLESSLY the head of the Republican party. Over a sign that says "1,000 workers is a start."
This refers to a Ad campaign to bust the Butts of the Union hacks.
Well, Yorke finds it OFFENSIVE!. So, he can't STOP talking about it. RELENTLESSLY!
Never mind the 25 years of graft and horrid coruption that got us here.
All Yorke cares about are the SIGNS! He must see them in his sleep!
John Depetro has the high ground on this one.
Dan looks like he's lost his balance. Not good for his show or the people he says he's watching out for. Walter.
 
What I'm hearing is Yorke is doing that because Jon Depetro's sister works for the
Republican Leader Ciccione. Dan wants him fired. Depetro's sister would lose her job.

Sooner or later Yorke and Depetro are going to declare war on eachother.

Close Ryan but NO cigar. Mr. DePetros wife works for the Governor. Why do you think he has this love affair with The Don? This week he said. "Listen I have cousins who work for the state." I guess he just forgot about sis. Last week he was championing religion! I hope he goes to confession.
 
John Depetro has mentioned his sister and should be comended for admitting that.If he has all these family members working for the state or the republican party why is he saying every 5 minutes 1000 state workers are not enough.I think if he had his way every state worker would be fired and told to reaply to work for the company that replaces the state workers.
It's about F'N time someone put thier foot down on the abuse from some NOT all state workers.
Thank GOD WPRO has not gone all satelite like WHJJ.This state would be lost without John,Dan and Matt right now.

In my earlier post I said Mr. DePetros "wife" works for the Governor. That was a typo, meant "sister". I am sorry for the mistake.
 
Yorke has a history of using his Radio show to aid him in attacks against people he has personal problems with. With Yorke "IT IS' all personal! That is all.
 
Yorke is a bully....with a thick head and thin skin!

It's no wonder why audiences skew so old with talk radio. How many more days can these hosts talk about the state budget? I liked Dan's show better when it was all about him. I once thought he should change his name to MiMi. . .me me me me me me me me. Now he has just become way too boring. BORING I wonder how he will react when Buddy takes his time slot?
 
i have to admit i was listening to him Monday and literally didn't know what was going on. my eyes glazed over as he went on and on about some kind political insider crap. My last words screamed out load seconds before i hit the seek button, "who in god's name could be listening to this?" it was like bad local cable connect progamming but on radio instead of cox channel 18
 
Dan has been complaining about the state budget.In case you have been living under a rock. Rhode Island is 400 plus million in the whole for fiscal 2008.There is no money left.it was all given away.but somehow we are getting a 90 million dollar courthouse in Lincoln because criminals in Woonsocket and Cumberland can't drive an extra 5 minutes to Providence to see a judge.Take the bus.
I can't wait to see what John Depetro and Dan Yorke have to say next week. This is going to be GOOD radio.
Too bad WALE is nt in the act.Maybe they should ask for a grant to operate the station.At the rate this state is going Somalia will be a Beverly Hills by the time we(Rhode Islands) stand erect again.
 
I think its great that Yorke is alert to how inappropriate and insensitive creating lawn signs to politicize the livlihood of a thousand RI residents.
ALSO, Dipetro drinks the Don's kool-aid day in day out. Independent Man my arse.
AND, do you remember Steve Kass??? He had the Don on every other day and was just a cheerleader. Rah Rah Rah. Never asked tough questions or challenged the Don.

Sets a very dangerous precedent of how a talk show host can get an appointed State job in the six figures. Just have the Don on and pucker up.
 
Thank God for talk radio in RI. It's the only legit media left around here. Our newspapers are pathetic and our TV news is even worse.

And you are kidding right? The A.G. Lynch actually had his GIRLFRIEND working as a leaison to the State house before his wife found out!
The Legislative staff was 260 in 1990. Now it's 600! Millions for PATRONIGE jobs.

I am making the connection of how a radio show host can get a high level job in the Governor's office merely by drinking the ideological kool-aid and going above and beyond hyping his message on the radio show and throwin up soft ball questions when he appears on the show. Not so much critical of Mr. Kass. I found him to be an excellent radio show host (and moderator of public t.v. Lively Experiment), only commenting on the dangerous precedent this will be.
All the patronage and nepotism aside, clearly its a small state and relatives are amuck inside Smith Hill but Kass also utilizes his known radio persona as a vehicle in The Don's latest radio propaganda ads while simutaneously still broadcasting "its a good life" on Sundays on WPRO. This is clearly a conflict of interest.

Yes perhaps it deserves a new thread but its intereting discourse.
Steve Kass was the Governor's big minister of propaganda when he was on the air. Especially when the Governor would appear on The Steve Kass show. John Dipetro is also a huge Don cheerleader but he doesnt demand the legitmacy and respect Mr. Kass enjoys. The Governor is tapping into that. Steve Kass ONLY got the job as Communications Director because of his hard sell of the Carcieri ideology and role as minister of propaganda. Without that relationship as an advocate and tool of the Carcieri administration Kass does NOT get that job. One could determine there is a quid pro quo at work. You go out and push my agenda and you will be rewarded with a high level Government job.
Now it is more unsettling because Mr. Kass is leading in on all the radio ads for 'the Don' with full knowledge he is a radio persona and familiar to the radio audience lending legitimacy to the message while simutaneously hosting a weekend radio show on the same station.
 
Not to harp on stuff....but before Kass...wasn't Dyana Koelsch (formerly of the Ch 10 I team) the governors Communications director? I wonder how many puffball stories she did...I think this was also during the time that Taricani wasn't on the air with the medical issues (heart related if I remember correctly)...does she go back to Linc's Communications director?

I know Greg Perry formerly was the AG's spokeman under Whitehouse (or was it Pine)...he might still be now

Also, let's not throw around unsubstantiated rumors about somebody NOT in the media as we have had enough unsubstantiated stuff IN the media floating around in here as it is (WALE, Dan Yorke getting fired, O&A getting fired, WALE, Tony Farr, Arlene, etc, etc, etc)
 
What about the Mario Hallario - Dave Cicilline relationship? Ten only does Puff Stories on Cicilline. Cicilline has been seen out many times with Hallario at his side. No major Media will cover it. Only The Phionex (sp) ever wrote on their 'relationship'.
Then again, when you've worked in this business for awhile, you understand we are told what to put out and what not to put out. Walter
