Dan Yorke Show and the One Minute 22 Second Delay

WPRO simulcasts NBC 10 News at 6PM. I just tuned in and WPRO's audio is 1 Minute and 22 seconds behind NBC 10. That seems kind of unnecessary. I am sure the delay is left over from Dan Yorke's show. I've heard of having a delay before, but almost a minute and a half delay! Why?

Try this one on skynet... I'd be willing to bet PRO has their dump delay plus I'm sure a digital delay... 10 must have some form of delay in place as well... COX should add a second or two in signal transmit time... Who's to say that can't add up to 1:22? And are you really that hell bent to bust on Yorke that you think PRO would have a longer delay for him than anyone else?

I'll bust on anyone who I think deserves it. In this case I'm busting on whoever thinks it's neccessary to put somebody on a minute and a half delay! I can understand 7 seconds or even 10 seconds. But 1:22 is just plain silly.

To address your second point of me thinking that WPRO has a longer delay for Yorke than for anyone else. You are absolutely correct. Not only do I "THINK" that.... but I "KNOW" that it's fact. Rush Limbaugh on WPRO is actually 7 seconds ahead of WABC New York. So WPRO has no delay there. They actually air Limbaugh before the Flagship does! That seems like a good trick to me,but somehow they do it! I also tuned into WSAR 's simulcast of NBC 10 News at 6PM and it so happens that WPRO was about a minute and 15 seconds behind WSAR! Now I am sure that WSAR gets the signal from NBC10 in much the same way that WPRO does. So why can WSAR manage to air it without the big delay, but WPRO can't?The answer is simple. WPRO has a ridiculous delay during Yorke's program. At least they did at 6PM on Friday.

TRUE STORY...and I think I'm past the Statute of Limitations...

1993: I was consulting WPRO, helping new owners (TeleMedia) transition-in.
We did some focus groups.
Rush Limbaugh was on both WPRO and WRKO.
Apparently, WRKO's delay was longer.

One panelist explained: "IF YOU'RE LISTENING ON SIX-THIRTY, AND YOU GO THROUGH A TUNNEL OR MISS SOMETHING RUSH SAYS, TURN ON SIX-EIGHTY AND YOU'LL HEAR WHAT YOU JUST MISSED."

Today WRKO was 1 second ahead of WPRO and WABC was 20 seconds behind WABC. So congratulations to WRKO. They won the race this afternoon. lol.

Seriously though.... I don't quite understand why all the various delays. Everybody can manage to get the Network News on precisely at the top of the hour, but for some reason nobody is on the same page when it comes to other programming.

It's the same thing with Television. There used to be a day when you could talk to a friend on the phone and you both could be watching the same thing on TV. That doesn't quite work anymore. These days you will laugh at something and your friend will ask what's so funny. Then you have to tell him that he'll see what's so funny in 10 seconds!

It's just not the same anymore.

CORRECTION TO MY POST ABOVE:
