Dana Hersey Rich, versatile, masculine... sophisticated

Love at first listen!

We need more positive stuff like this.

Anyone remember the April (back in the mid-80s, I believe) when Hersey and Avruch actually swapped places on The Movie Loft and The Great Entertainment?

They really projected the image of two classy professionals, having a little fun with an April Fools joke.

My goodness, they actually showed respect for each other!

Did anyone hear the RKO commercial where Dana disses the RKO "Talent" - such as it is! Ha!

Funny stuff. Bring back Bozo! Frank Avruch

Training BS Speech (isn't that what DePetro dishes out 3 hours a day - BS speech?)

Without Casablanca they would have zero promotion - Entercom's too cheap and their programs
are stale and totally boring!

Dana unfortunately has a fantastic voice that he can do only one thing with. He is the typical overbearing "announcer", in short a one trick pony. One thing you've never heard out of him is versatility, too bad. great pipes.

Towerbuzz, I hope you are joking. He's got great pipes, but what else can he bring to the table? What more does he need? This is radio. Having great pipes puts him head and shoulders above most on the air today. Without naming names, how many people on the air in Boston not only have nothing to say, but say that nothing with a really harsh accent? Weekend radio is a joke and weekdays aren't that much better.

Dana is a God, and looks a lot like the only real Batman, Adam West. ;)

Amen to that. Great pipes seem to be devalued now. Instead we've got these screechers who may sound like Joe and Jane Six-Pack, but they lose something in the presentation.

An alternative media company I worked for about five years ago once brought Dana in to do a "demo reel" about the company's media products. It was pretty technical jargon, and watching the raw tape it was obvious Dana had no idea what the hell he was talking about...and took many, many takes to get through it all.

However, Dana's actual delivery was immaculate; on the takes where he actually got through it...he just totally nailed it. And he was very professional about the flubs. He was a real pleasure to work with, and the finished product may have taken a while to arrive at, but it was a work of art.

Based on this experience, I think Towerbuzz might have a point of sorts...I'm not sure Dana would be fast enough on his feet to handle being a good talk show host; that takes a special gift that few have (although many try anyway...WRKO anyone?). But he probably would be fantastic in something where he's mostly reading a script. News anchor on the middays at WBUR; something like that. The man has pipes!

Of course, methinks Dana doesn't exactly want for money...so I imagine he could do whatever he damn well pleases. ;) Maybe he'll buy WKOX & WXKS...or better still, Bob could get him to do voiceovers on WJIB! ;D LOL. This thread brings back great memories of watching The Movie Loft as a kid back in pre-cable days when Ch.38 was one of the only stations we got at our house.

There's a big difference between Dana Hersey and "webcast boy". If you're going to knock an established talent like Dana reveal yourself. Afraid that your bad resume' is worse than no resume'?

Don't you love how the detractors pull people down with anonymous handles to make themselves feel better?
Reveal thyself and have a one-on-one. They find it too difficult.

Take it easy. Ever heard of free speech? Actually he said good things about Dana, but that's not the issue. [EDIT]

[EDIT--vulgarity]

he certainly has a right to make a comment, and no I am not in awe of Mr. Hersey or inspired by his looks.

I am used to idiots coming in to a recording studio and yapping about the make and brand and identifying number of some microphone and not knowing how the hell to get a good sound. Hersey gets results, webcast boy probably shuffles his Ipod all day. It's about having respect. the 27 pages I just delivered to my Mayor regarding misconduct by certain individuals in this city has my signature on it. That's all I'm asking people to do.

If you're going to complain, back it up. If not, just shut up. Have a little courage - write your name.

NO not at all he does have great pipes and that was the first point I made but Dana Hersey has one read, one delivery, he's an "ANNOUNCER" He does that one thing and does it well. People in Boston grew up hearing him all their lives so there is a lot of sentimentality associated with his voice. He has a great heavy handed over the top, almost Don pardo like, announcer read, one read is all he has, it's my opinion. The firstin the thread posted his voice.com link listen to his demo it's the same read, same style each read becuase that is what he does.

"Staytuned to TV 38 for the Movie Loft......followed by Boston Bruins Hockey".

I know all you Baaahhhstin born boomers just took a trip back with that line.....lol :D
