Dana Jang on KBAY today @ 4

I can't recall the last time I heard Dana on the air.....

Looks like a cost-cutting measure put him in the booth, once again! Interesting!

Maybe they're getting ready for the Dana and Dayna show. (very) Straight man and (endearingly) crazy woman. What a hit.

Dayna: Hey San Jose I'm back, I'm bare, and I'm pretty sure I'm on the air.
Dana: Uhh...
Dayna: Now is it Dana Jang or Jana Dang...I've heard both.
Dana: Well...
Dayna: Jana it is. Tell a joke, Jana.
Dana: Uhh...
Dayna: Wait a minute...Celine Dion? Bonnie Tyhahahahyler?? Backstreet WHAT?!?! Where's the music? I was told there would be music...what button do I push for some damn Velvet Underground?
Dana: Up next, the time...and the temperature.
(rim shot)

With affection...

From a variety of sources...

With MD/PM driver Steve Fox turned loose, Dana Jang is now program director, music director and has the 4 to 7 PM airshift.

Sam Van Zandt's morning shift has been expanded an extra hour, now going to 10 AM (with the last hour as a solo act).

Public affairs director Barry Poole is gone; SVZ will take over that role, too.

The great Jona Denz-Hamilton's midday shift will now run from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Weekenders gone ... it sounds like the weekday team will voicetrack all shifts.

Receptionist gone, too ... sales team will cover front desk in two-hour shifts (sounds like a real morale booster for them).

ADD: Radio & Records also notes that the mighty John Higdon, assistant engineer at KBAY, has also been told his services are no longer required. John is the outstanding chief engineer at Coast Radio's KKIQ, KKDV and KUIC, and continues to work for Los Hermanos Levitt's trio of FMs.

Not an unintelligent way to cut costs. In fact like the older days of radio. PD with an airshift, on air PSAD, covering the weekends as much as possible with weekday jocks, and everyone just working harder. Dana is in his element.

Woe is me...I was part of the KBAY let go....let's see this is the 10th axe in my 23 year Bay Area Radio career!(KDON, KWAV, KMBY, KSJO, KABL, K101,KBLX, KKSF(2x), Shadow Traffic,(KKIQ, KKDV, KUIC), The Bone....and KBAY!
Shouldn't I be inducted in the Bay Area Radio hall of Fame, by now?Think I've earned my stripes.
Where are all the chick nominations anyway?
