It was very different from the other mixshows out there now. I did change to Kiss 103-5 and maybe they could be competing by throwing more dance club remixes in their show. The show was more Progressive/Trance and Underground than vocal Euro or house/club. Bobby D. was probably mixed the most vocal product of the night. Was Tim Spinnin Schommer even on last night? He is listed on the flyer but I never heard him mix. Anyone know?Overall, good. The DJs Kyle Kelly and Louis 2 Live kept talk lively and to a minimum as they let the music dictate the show.

I saw the playlist for the first 2 hours and must say that it features a lot of music that, although good, is unfamiliar to the Chicago market. I personally feel there weren't enough GOLDs to keep people tuned in for a long period of time, but then again, I'm not being paid for my consulting time, either. TKC knows what he's doing, and if not, he can always take a tax write off for the brokered time. Most of us know he spent tens of thousands of dollars on the Dance Factory, so let's hope, for his sake, hope it doesn't get foreclosed on his debit.As for the mixes, I'm not sure what was played, but one thing is for sure: it was produced by a group of ex-radio vets and a whole set of great up and comers. It will be interesting to see how this show does against a newly revamped KLUB KISS featuring MELLE MEL and the heritage behemoth AFTERPARTY featuring the B96 Mixmasters. Kiss once again could have implemented a Dance Factory of their own a while back, but was unable to do so under Rod Phillips. I wonder how the Power and GCI shows will fit into this picture.Someone told me over the weekend that a lot of the Dance B96 Mixmasters want to be on TKC's show, because they are lost in the shuffle between the hip hop mixes, which is a statement I find rather hard to believe! Why would anyone in their right mind want to leave a full city grade terrestrial signal and a show run by the legendary Julian "Jumpin'" Perez? Can someone enlighten me?Let's hope the show is quality enough to make the suits rethink their hate for dance music.

Bobby D did a cool intro I give him that ... These guys cant compete against the B96's dance DJ's ( Josh the funky 1 , Louie Loop, Billy The Kid , DJ Spin , Mixin Marc ) My 2 cents
Bobby D knows what he is doing. The thing with Caffeine, is that his music doesn't fit radio too well. ITS REALLY HARD!! I love Caff and all, I mean..hell..I used to do his bookings, but I can see why you hated it. I'm suprised that Markski, and TKC had a horibble set. They should be used to doing good mixes. Oh well. We will see how it progresses. I hope they will start posting mixes online, because I missed 90% of the show.flow said:

The reason why they probably want to go to another station is because granted Julian is the mix show director, BUT he has totally abandoned doing any House mixes. How long does he think he can be a fake Funkmaster Flex? The reason why Julian is (or was) legendary in the first place is because of his DANCE mixes, not Hip-Hop!!!! He isn't giving House Music the respect it deserves anymore. Probably a lot of the DJ's on B96 that are still mixing House are feeling that from him, that may be a reason why they don't want to stay.Rocketman said:

I think I can safely say that if the Chicago audience wants Energy back, someone needs to hire JD and I to run that ship to ensure it's not a nightclub. I think MLII would agree, JD and I could make NINE into a very, very successful station for Mr. Eychner.

I'm doing a tri-pod dance right now. I have no rhythm in my old age, so I need all the support I can get...
I wish to set the record straight here. I originally didn't want to comment about it, because it makes me seem like I'm "bending", "apologetic", or even "diplomatic." But too many misconceptions and bad rumors have been swirling on what people think is my view about Dance Factory. My VP, Rob Austin, is entitled to his own opinions and I will never condemn his views. But his views are his own, and do not necessarily reflect my own views, nor the views of JamTraxx Media, its employees, partners, sponsors, and/or affiliates. I have never ever censured any of my employees or associates from posting their opinions on the boards, nor do I ever intend to.I support ANY radio program that promotes dance music. The majority of my career has been linked to the dance music industry, from programming dance stations to promoting dance records to spinning at clubs. That means I support Dance Factory, as well as B96' Afterparty, 103.5 KISS-FM's Klub Kiss, and 88.1 CRX as well. Without their efforts toward dance music, there would be no dance beats on the radio. And I've worked too damn hard in dance radio to let it diminish on the national level and especially here in Chicago. Some of my friends and past coworkers are involved on Dance Factory. Kyle Kelly and Luis 2 Live Lopez (Energy 92.7/5), DJ Markski (Energy 88.7), Bobby D, and others. I truly support them and their efforts toward dance radio. I encourage you to listen to DANCE FACTORY every Saturday night. I hold no "grudge" or malice to TKC. Honestly. Not to say that there aren't any disagreements, but I actually applaud his efforts and I do hope that Dance Factory succeeds on NINE-FM. Would I love to program a dance radio station in Chicago again? No doubt it has always been a dream of mine. My commitment to bringing a full 24/7 dance radio station to Chicago remains strong, but it truly isn't my only priority now. My company's national radio network and radio syndication arm (RadioMixes.com) has grown tremendously, and it is my wish to see that we double our clientele and revenue by the end of this year. So my employees are working hard to try to make that happen. My company also does consulting and production services to several clients. It should be no secret that I'm eager to build JamTraxx Media into something greater. I haven't given up on bringing the dance beats back to Chicago radio. I just have a lot more on my plate as well.Have a great Memorial Day weekend, listen to Dance Factory, and keep the Energy alive.Now to post this on MySpace.
