so as i was have alittle get together at my house in Bartlett IL getting ready for fireworks, i remembered that our town broadcasting music on 88.5FM that goes along with fireworks. As i tuned my radio to 88.5FM all i got was Pure Dance music. as i got excited i called my neighbor that lives a few streets away and they as well just heard pure dance music. I called another friend that lives further in town and they were only hearing music going along to the fireworks. So i guess someones running a pirate here in my town, ive been listening for about an hour and they have top hits like plummit, cascada, jenna drey, jonathan peters, and remixes of pussycat dolls. tell me what u guys think!

Not my station. However, 88.5 is one of the frequencys used for Sirius Satelite radios, FM MODULATORS. He could have been parked close enough to someones car, who was listening to THE BEAT on Sirus or something. Those fm modulators for Sat Radio, and for Ipods, shoot a signal for about 10 car lengths

They must be rebroadcasting the 32k stream. Because the 128k maxes out quickly, and it throws me off all the time, I cant imagine someone using the 128k stream for their Pirate/part 15, or whatever it is, since it is very unreliable. If they are rebroadcasting the 32k stream, that must sound like crap. Low bandwidth streams sound terrible, when rebroadcasted over fm, I know this, because I tried it last summer, before my Ramsey got stolen, and that was the end of fm pirate broadcasting for me.
Edited by midwestclubber on 07/05/05 08:19 PM.

Maybe E-skip? There's been numerous reports of E-skip occuring all across the United States this week. It's not impossible to get a Seattle station in Illinios under these conditions. I remember an E-skip outbreak a couple of years ago and Party 93.1 from Miami was booming in here on Long Island! Also got some stations from Calgary as well.
