Dance in Small Markets

One of my local CHRs WBWB in Blooington Ind just added Lucas Prata- I want a girl like that. Wow, so many Dance songs and Remixes on a small college town. I think the fact that Bloomington only has one CHR, no Hot AC, and no rock, or rhythmic competitors.

Also, Bloomington is a very cosmopolitan and has alot of Asian and European Audiences. Could this work in other smaller markets, you know... spinning about 5 current Dance songs in rotation at all times, as well as some gold for the late 90s.

I do wish Bloomington was a rated market so they could really push the Dance onto the top 100 and beyond.

What about the dance station in middle of nowhere, Long Island and middle of nowhere, New Jersey and middle of nowhere, Arizona ;)
They seem to be doing well! A 1 watt monitored dance station in the middle of the woods is good for getting dance on the charts.

What?

My point is, the station's transmitters aren't in populated areas. Their signals might have a large coverage area though. Route 72 in NJ is almost all woods, and Party 105's transmitter is on a hill in a small neighborhood surrounded by the woods. Energy 101.1 has its transmitter in the middle of the desert. The city grade signals of the stations I mentioned don't include any large cities. The fringe signal does include some populated areas like Phoenix and Philly, and since dance fans are passionate about the stations, they will listen through static to their favorite music.

You forget that Party also has a translator. If you are talking Z 88.9, I think you need to look at a map. Yeah our antenna is in the woods but we cover the majority of South Jersey. This isnt just the fringe areas. Our signal hits almost Trenton all the way down to AC. We also hit the more populated areas of Philadelphia which are on the eastern part. During the summer through LBI into the mix. We hit a lot of people not just trees.

What station is 1 watt in the woods?

There isn't any 1 watt dance station in the woods, unless you count the Liquid Radio pirate in the midwest.
