Dance Mixshow On A Major Market CHR Station!

nd2023

Banned
I'm listening to 93.3 FLZ online now and Fink's mixshow is AMAZING! It's pure dance and no pop remixes. This is on Clear Channel's CHR station in Tampa.

Last week I was listening to Club 106.5 on Mix 106.5, a CBS CHR station in Baltimore. From 10-2 in the night, it was playing pure dance and pop remixes.

Those are the best mixshows I've heard on CHR stations.

93.3 in Tampa sounds great. I got to listen to them while I was in Orlando. Two of my former DJ's are on at nights. Ratboy and Staypuff. They sounded good.

How hard and far would we have to continue to evolve before Hot 97 even considers edging back towards dance? They seem to be solid with staying on hip hop, and had once even started to add in pop dance tracks for a while before phasing those same tried dance pop selections back out.

whos doing the show ... perrecorded are software ... any one tell me

That's a really good question KDM 7000, but honestly, I think it's pointless to wonder. They don't seem willing to bend at all. They converted to that format back in '93-'94 full time and never looked back... I think we'll either have to focus on NOW (which really seems to be heading more and more into that direction every week), or hope for something even more dance focused to hit the NY airwaves again...

On a similiar note, this week's cover story in Billboard Magazine will definitely be a noteworthy one. It talks about how Pop is back in a BIG way, and how "dance" oriented directions in pop are very much a part of this new era in music.

What hours did the mixshow take place? When I tuned in on a Saturday night several months ago they were mixing hip-hop along with dance. It was garbage!

If what you say is true then I'll have to tune in.
