Here in Philly, Hot AC WISX "Mix 106.1" has four (yes, four) mixshows on the weekends. Friday Night Live from 8-Midnight, the nationally syndicated Remix Top 30 (this one really doesn't fit the format, but I'll take it!) from Midnight-3AM, Saturdays from 8-1AM, and Sunday Night Live from 8-Midnight. They are more or less a carryover from when WISX was a Rhythmic AC, however the Friday night mixshow was actually added right before they morphed into Hot AC. Arguably, the mixshows also sound better with the station now as a Hot AC (more current, and some good electro sounding top 40 remixes). They get more edgy during the later hours, sounding basically a CHR that only plays remixes sprinkled in with some real dance. I think what makes this more strange is that Mix's sister station is CHR "Q102" which has no mixshows at all. As I'm listening now, they are playing an electro-sounding remix to Usher's "More"... on a Hot AC with a CHR in the same cluster. Gotta wonder CC's wisdom here.
Any other formats/stations that you wouldn't typically associate with dance having a dance-oriented mixshow?
