Dance music in Miami

nd2023

Banned
I remember when I went to Miami during a non-WMC week, I heard dance music everywhere on South Beach. Almost every restaurant and store was blasting some form of dance music. Even my hotel had dance music in the lobby. Cars were blasting dance music and even people were blasting dance music out of their iPods. I loved how "mainstream" dance music was in Miami. Why can't we have that atmosphere in places like New York?
Well, I heard Party 105 blasted in a Long Island pizza restaurant and I left a big tip because of that. And Pulse 87 was playing in a clothing store in NYC. Several stores in Tampa were playing 93.3 FLZ's dance mixshow. But not like Miami with dance music heard everywhere despite the lack of a dance station. A Pulse 87 in Miami would be in the top 5 despite a weak signal and 87.7 frequency.

I did post about this on the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale board regarding the void on standard FM radio.

There IS a dance station in Miami but it's on HD...Party 93.1 (93.1-HD2, which moved there after the standard FM went to a rock format). Phil Michaels-Trueba is still the PD there and quite honestly, that station SHOULD come back over to the standard side.

But in terms of the atmosphere.....well, our South Beach (Staten Island) does not compare to their South Beach LOL. We also don't have temps during the winter that average into the 70's either :( . I'd like to see more stores add on dance music somehow...not just the Abercrombie & Fitch's, to which I'll stay in the store just FOR the music.

Parts of Florida have always been great when it comes to dance. Not only judging from online streams, but also when I listened to certain stations in Florida from Cuba, and when I purchased certain compilations that gave credit to Miami DJ's.

I wish the rest of Florida was as progressive as Miami. Here in North Florida, I mark out when I hear a dance remix.
