Dance music is back on 103.1fm in LA

But on Indie's Hd2. One problem. The hd signal is limited and can't be heard in most parts of So cali. But the station can be heard in the Hollywood/West LA/Santa Monica area. The music sounds great. They are playing alot of non stop dance music that is mainstream but I heard some songs I've never heard of before. Also its the extended versions too. I haven't heard any id's on the station so I'm not sure what they are referring it as.

That's the bum part about HD.

There are cities that actually have dance formatted stations on HD-2 (Chicago, Miami, now L.A.) but the signal stinks and radio, as an industry, has never marketed HD radio to its potential by pushing out units and hooking up with car companies to make the system a "standard" on future car models. Unless you're a radio geek (like myself) that actually HAS an HD unit (which is a standalone radio and not a car stereo), no one is going to tune in! :(

Yeah,, I hate to say it, but HD radio is basically a turd... Im sure with the already weak signal of indie 103.1,,, no one is gonna be able to get a consistent signal from it more than 5 miles away.. In Chicago, B-96s HD-2 cuts off about 25 miles from the sears tower,,, doesnt even cover one third of the market,,, sounds worse than a CD skipping in the fringe of the HD signal,, and its annoying to hear the HD cut in and out on the HD-1 too, even though it just goes from digital to analog,, sometimes the Digital signal is a few seconds behind the analog, so even the HD-1 become a pain...

That is annoying when the volume goes loud for a couple seconds (HD on) and then back down (analog down)...HD is not good for traveling or living outside the 30 mile radius. That's when I have to manually put the station in analog and lock it, so the HD is blocked out in the fringe area.

It doesn't sound like a station I'd listen to. Not a fan of extended versions outside of mixshows. A poorly programmed dance station is worse than no dance station.

I agree..... a bad dance station will just kill the format for new comers... It was different back in the 80s and 90s when they used to make cool 12 inch versions, now they are like 10 minutes of nonstop beats several minutes before and after the lyrics begin and end..
