Dance On 101.9?

Something tells me that ESPN would want to grab that frequency fast.
It's been pretty tough for them to be on 1050AM especially competing against the venerable "The Fan" (WFAN). So for ESPN to place themselves on the FM dial would actually make sense since NO ONE is doing an all-sports station on the FM here. While I would LOVE to see a dance/rhythmic station happen here in NYC, I doubt that any major company is going to buy a frequency just to do this....with the shaky track record over the years. I would rather see a station like 92.3 Now morph into a dance direction slowly but surely and once they prove that the format works, then it's something to "sell" to corporations.

Radio corporations are less likely to do a dance intesive format unless we have more dance songs in the top 10. I agree that the music is still in the "selling stage" so to speak.
This might sound far fetched but if SBS stock continues to perform poorly they might sell off Amor 93.1 FM. New owners force KTU or NOW to leaned towards dance if they decide to do a rhythmic format.

Well, two things seem likely if another owner does come into play in New York City.
1. No new rock station (see WRXP)
2. Minimal (as in VERY minimal) chance of a country station appearing.
That's why I think sports would be likely on 101.9....doesn't totally take away from the predominantly male audience that tunes in to 'RXP. If SBS were to change their own format within, then perhaps there would have been a chance for dance/rhythmic to appear...but if they sold the station to another company, I can't see that happening.

This is a case of "give and take" and the dance music fans HAVE to realize this.
Granted, I may not be a HUGE fan of rhythmic, though I am not a "hater". But if playing Drake, B.o.B, Rihanna, Black Eyed Peas is going to benefit dance whereas our brand of music can get in there, we have to be supportive and all FOR it. Once dance continues to build up a strong rep down the road, then and ONLY then would a company consider taking a chance with a 80% type dance lean (you will always have other aspects in there...it was like that with Hot 103/97, 'KTU (103.5) and Pulse)
Also, FM sports is not a new trend. WEEI may have their flagship Boston station on 650AM but throughout New England, they do simulcast on FM (103.7 in Providence)
While FM sports may not be new, using your 103.7 example, there is a recent trend of FM stations flipping to sports talk. Philly, South Jersey, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Washington, Boston all got a new FM sports station within the past 2 years. It's just a matter of time when New York will be next.
If all those cities I mentioned got a dance station, then I'd hypothesize that NYC would get a dance station too.

The only thing I was doing was making a point about sports radio on FM, that it is NOT a new thing. This wasn't about spelling every single station WEEI has on their network throughout New England, except to point the fact that FM sports radio is not new.
I flubbed on Westerly instead of Providence and you did correct me, thank you. I didn't want to go into a whole spellout of this and that's why I stopped it.
