Dance on 87.7!

It's rare for me to work on Friday nights, so driving in my car I would tune in to the 'KTU mix. For some reason I wanted to hear my CD's, so I wanted to go to 88.3 (which is set in my car CD changer....kinda weird hearing WBGO and then poof...dance music). Anyway, I went a bit farther back towards 87.9 and heard some dance beats bleeding in. So I went to 87.7 and BOOM! A "wicked" dance music mix! Kinda Party 105 "ish"

I don't know where the signal is coming from but the DJ's were speaking Russian. Yet the music was English and was some very interesting tracks going on. I'm thinking it's a Friday night "pirate" out there. But no doubt...they get props from me!

If there were posts about this in the past, I didn't know...just latched onto it tonight. But if anyone has information, please share! But not too much info though ;) .

TONY SANTIAGO

It's actually WNYX Channel 6 TV, whose audio of course is on 87.75 FM (even though they are probably bending the rules and broadcasting on 87.70 outright, and with a killer signal to boot...covers the 5 boroughs easily). The time is leased to Russian broadcasters 24-7.

I've noticed they air dance shows on Friday and Sunday nights, and probably Saturday too, though I am not completely sure, and they kick ass. For whatever reason it kept slipping my mind to post it on here though.

There is a pirate on 91.9 that airs dance music after 10 pm on Saturday nights....simply goes by the name "91.9 FM." The frequency is also home to underground hip-hop on other nights of the week and they also pump out a really strong signal.

Jewish music on 96.7!

For even more fun, tune in 96.7 FM and listen to NYC's Jewish pirate, playing a very interesting mix of music and preaching. This afternoon I heard them play a rousing rendition of the perennial favorite song, "Down With The Arab Man". I'm not kidding -- it was sung in English and the chorus went something like "down with the Arab man... wake up, wake up, it's time to fight!"

It's a common mistake to not use punctuation in its proper form.
