Weekends will be all Serbian techno remixes of Sinatra, and Indonesian gamelan music.
______________

I'm not familiar with that stuff, but
I often listen to Indian music on Saturday
afternoons on Beasley's brokered WHSR (980).

And then Jewish music from 9 'til 10
Sunday mornings on Shalom South Florida
on James Crystal's brokered WLVJ (1040).

Both stations are rarely mentioned here.

Try it...

Other that Kreyol, Caribbean, and Hispanic
stations and a French program on WDNA, there's
not much ethnic programming to be heard in this
market.

I'd listen to Greek or Irish or Chinese music
if there was such a show.

How about talk: Juan on Juan?

How about hot talk: Juan on Juanita?

Or Oldies: A Million to Juan?

73s, si!

Just in the past few weeks I've noticed that Y-100.7 has (a) tightened their playlist even more than it already was by playing their top 5 or so hits an average of a whopping 115 times per week (instead the previous 90 to 100 times), and (b) gone even deeper into the realms of urban contemporary / hip hop music. Do I really appreciate hearing 1 of 2 Sean Paul hits a combined 160 times a week (nearly 23 times a day) ? No - not really.

On the other hand POWER-96 is shockingly experimenting with light pop. The most ridiculous hit on their current playlist - James Blunt's "You're Beautiful". They are actually playing it about 35 times a week !

It seems that neither station is interested in playing (real) dance music. That leads me to J.C.'s introductory statement way above that either station could break out if its current ratings slump by adding at least a few (real) dance songs to their playlist every hour. Simply take a tiny fraction of the dance hits that PARTY-93.1 played for virtually its entire 3-year lifespan and play a few of them every hour. There are selected HOT / Modern A.C. stations around the country (even in the big cities) that have experimented with the occasional trance or techno track with amazing results.

That has to be the strangest thing I've heard in a long, long time!
______________
