Danger Marco: Jan Jeffries is Coming!

Cumulus's well-loved VP of Programming Jan Jeffries is settling into his new office in Chicago. If you thought i94 couldn't be any more micromanaged, it now appears you were wrong.

Meanwhile WFMS's staff will pray that he doesn't do anything to give Emmis the #1 overall spot again.

In Chicago, in Atlanta, or in Hell, it doesn't matter where Jan is living, the Dick-tator will continue gobble up any talented programers that get in his way, and that will include McVay. Under Hitler, (sorry I mean Jan), your main job as PD is to make sure the weekend schedule is posted. You have no juice. So, if you are the type that just likes to follow along and come to work just so you can say you "work in radio" then working for Jan and the non-creative folks at Cumulus should be perfect. We witnessed Clear Channel ruin the industry by over-paying for radio stations and then having to justify to their Bean-counters the bottom line. Of course that has led to the demise of thousands of jobs. Now we'll watch Cumu-Cit do the same. Very scary time if you are in radio.

I think it's just a matter of time that McVay will show that he is a much better programmer than Jeffries. Jan's days are numbered.

Friends of mine have been gobbled by this croc and they all said the same thing. Many years later, he remains... and always will.

McVay IS a better programming but it won't matter. The Emperor will win should McVay challenge the Dark Side. Jan clearly has naked pictures of a Dickey or two.

You can say that again. It's why I am glad I got out about 6 years ago. I miss it terribly, but not the drama and all the corporate stuff my friends in the biz are dealing with nowadays.

I don't think Jan is a terrible programmer. Mike McVay has much better people skills and serves the company much better when investor/Wall Street types come calling. The "culture" that Mike hopes to change cannot change as long as John Dickey stays with Cumulus. That is the biggest problem. Jan's values are in line with diabolical John's.
