Daniels and Webster

Please see the link in Take It Outside for my response...and Roger, please stop calling every station in the market's request lines looking for gossip to post here or in other market threads. It's creepy!

This was bumped to take it outside i will guess because I used some posts from there in my reply.
I have removed those.

I hate posting here because of negative threads like this and the attitudes.

But in this case I have to weigh in.

This is Jim Rising. Those of you who know me know I have some credibility here.

Success can be measured in many ways, Luv coors. Sometimes the metric is ratings. But listener loyalty, sponsor loyalty are big ones as well. After you have been in the business a few more years you may come to understand this, but looking at your posts it's doubtful.

You have been a programmer for ten years? Congrats. Come back to me when you have 20 or 30 years and have seen the cycles that those of us who have some experience have seen. I have 27 years here alone.

Confidence and knowledge about how radio works? After 15 years in the business? You must be some sort of prodigy or else very very deluded.

The real issue here is why you feel you can just attack anyone who doesn't agree with you. Like I say, with time and more experience your baby skills will grow, as will your people skills. I wish you luck. And I suggest you never ever reveal who you are to anyone. This is, when all is said and done a very very small business.

A wise man once told me "be careful who you step on on the way to the top. They WILL be waiting for you on way back down."

I expect a stunning, slander-filled rebutal. But you know what, Luv coors? The last word will always be yours. I don't need to respond. Unlike you I have nothing to prove.

Jay and John-congrats on longevity that few in this business will ever achieve. It was always a pleasure working with you. I count you among my nearest and dearest friends and I remain a fan.
See you for the 5000th. As long as Lipppy ain't there.

You guys go another 1,000 and I'll score you and Evans some ham!

Thanks to everyone who took this post seriously and also for their kind words of support. Looks like this'll be something special, so keep listening for details.

Thanks again!

I was most impressed by the fact that they are guys who can drink beer before 8am.
Maybe that's why our country's in the crapper, not enough people taste beer early enough.
Is that even legal to do on the air outside of NEPA?

Cheers to their 10,000th show!

Daniels & Webster have much to be proud of. No matter what the industry, holding the same jobs for as long as these guys have is an acomplishment.

OH, and drinking beer before 8am in NEPA is definitely legal. And if you live in the Scranton area, it's also legal to drop a shot in the mug, but ONLY if you are chowing down on cold pizza squares and pickled pigs feet at the same time.

No kidding it's legal...

But I guarantee there's no plan in place...can't wait to see the pile of idiots they snag that morning for DUI's...that includes the hosts!

Goodness! Life's too short! Are there not more important things to worry about? I haven't posted on here in years. I actually had to re-register just so I can add my two cents because this is a little absurd if you ask me.

I worked for T/S for 4 years as a promotions asst. and part time jock. My time there was nothing short of a blast. Even when times got stressful. I never had a problem getting up at 3am to get ready for a live morning show because D&W were going to be broadcasting from some street corner. I knew I had a fun 4 hours ahead of me. They are top notch guys with alot of fans. Frankly the opinions you have them really don't matter. As long as people still love them (which they do) that's all that matters.

T/S has a great group of people and a very comfortable work environment. I never feared for my job and never had to worry about any drama. You can talk bad about the place all you want. It's nothing new, but I assure you that the attitude there is very positive and no one is running around looking over their shoulder.

Congrats on the long run guys!

Thunder

I would like to pass on my congratulations for this rarely accomplished feat of endurance.

Having worked across the street from them in the old PNC Bank building years ago, they are definitely very sincere and honorable broadcasting talents.

Times - Shamrock is very fortunate to have them continually lead their broadcast group with good ratings.

Keep up the GREAT work.

It's funny that you mention that...the newest D&W "Best Of" CD will be released on Friday, October 3rd and it'll be available through Joe Nardone's Gallery of Sound.

Daniels and Webster will actually go to a few different Galleries of Sound on the 3rd to start selling them, autograph a few, and have some fun.

It's scheduled to take place (like I said) October 3rd, starting at 1pm at the Gallery of Sound in Hazleton, 2pm in the Dallas Shopping Center, 3pm at the Gallery of Sound on Mundy Street, and 4pm at the Gallery of Sound at the Fashion Mall in Dickson City.

It's a piece of NEPA broadcast history.

Thanks for asking! Now I can plug this without feeling even remotely guilty!

History is an act, moment, event that'll always be remembered because of what "it" meant at that point of time. History in radio is the day that a new station debuts, a heritage station finally falls, a station does an event with a superstar that draws thousands, etc.

Radio history is not 2 dying talents trying to pad their savings accts. in possibly their final ratings book by releasing their 8th best of CD, even it is with a quality local retailer. Guarantee this sells 2,000 or less.

Please focus more in regards to the on air product instead of meaningless side projects...no wonder they're on life support. Great thinking by mgmt. allowing this to go on as well! Thanks for the great laugh tonight!

Radio history....LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!

D&W cd $20

Coors light can 2-50

D & W doing consecutive remotes an hour a part with 30+ minutes travel time between each destination....Priceless

Long live D & W!

History is written by those who win. With 6+ books #1 MEN 25-54, I'd say anything D & W wants to call "history" is history. Keep up the good work boys!

Terrible responses...if you're implying they've got 6 #1 books in a row....you're completely wrong....they don't even have 3 in a row. Paying 20 bucks for a crappy CD....LOL. I'll buy my CL with that money as will the other 95% of the market.

Who cares about them doing a series of stupid remotes...it'll do nothing to move the ratings which is what they should be focusing on....like I said, I couldn't ask for a better slow death!

You are an angry and bitter person, Luvcoors.
The last D&W release sold out and was fantastic. I think 10,000 were pressed and sold.

Angry and bitter...not really...just have a strong dislike for a pair of guys that claim to be the "world's greatest" and the people like you who are brainwashed to think the same.

As I said before...to call this CD release "radio history" is one of the biggest jokes I've heard on this board. Radio history would have been the broadcast of the SWB Yanks winning the Gov. Cup, Rocky & Sue actually admitting on the air that they're married instead of lying to their loyal audience for another 15 years (that show's brutal too), Jeff Walker not having strippers do stupid games live on air while targeting 18-54 yr. old women, and hundreds of other things would be radio history.

That's the point! Read, learn, think, & understand and learn that things change....that's why NEPA will continue to die, because a majority of you refuse to do so!

Well I am catching up on the boards....I took some time off of work since my little trip to the NAB in Tx ......Reading the talk of ratings I decided to sit down and look at the numbers for the morning show. In men 25-54 DandW were....#1 Spring 08, #1 Winter, #1 Fall 2007, #1 Summer 2007, #1 Spring 2007.....that seems like 5 in a row to me. So I dont were you (luvcoors) are getting your numbers from?

Okay, D & W have 23 years under their belts, (and beer.)

This means Shamrock is clearly making money from the show. Their ratings are enviable and even if they were not, their heritage in the market is worth big bucks. 'nuf said?

If you heard the segment with Bill Lynett on Wednesday morning, you know that the company is more than satisfied with Jay and John's employment.

Rock On, boys.
