Danny Bonaduce Re-signs?

In LAradio.com today in the "Hear Ache" column there is a little item: "Danny Bonaduce has re-signed with KLSX for mornings co-hosting the Adam Carolla Show."

This is an un-sourced blurb in a little column devoted to odd facts. It doesn't look like a press release to me. Nor did anyone mention this on the Adam Carolla Show. And is Bonaduce's contract with KLSX or is it with CBS? Does anyone have confirmation on this?

I just confirmed through a friend at the station that he was re-signed.
 
Re-signed by whom? Could this be an announcement that KLSX has committed to the return of Bonaduce subject to final approval by CBS? In other words, have Jack Silver and Bob Moore said "yes" and are now waiting for approval from CBS, which they may or may not get?

I consider my source to be very credible and I do believe that Corolla/Bonaduce is a KLSX show and farmed out, but it is true that that may not be the case. Maybe someone who positively knows can enlighten us? I will do some digging as well.
 
I don't want to seem combative. It just seems to me very odd that this announcement was made this way. A little unsourced blurb? No announcement on the show itself? Is this the usual practice?

Any word on whether Carolla himself has made a commitment?

Why in the world would they announce this on the show? That is NOT common practice in radio. Don't want to be combative either, but what's so odd about it? Don usually gets info ahead of the official press release so it's not odd at all. His website is usually quite reliable so it's most likely a done deal.
 
So what you're saying is that this is an unofficial bit of info writen in advance of the official announcement. I can see that. When would we expect to see the official announcement?

As for accuracy, the NY Times prints retractions all the time. The newsbriefs section in the journal Science (and you can't get more prestigious than Science) has had inaccurate info. Not the fault of Science. It always turned out that the source was at fault. Who was the source of this info? If it's Jack Silver, that's fine. But Bonaduce has always had a cloud of weirdness around him and it's hard to separate fact from fiction.


Why would they announce this on the show? I understand what you mean. I grew up listening to Gary Owens on KMPC and I never even thought about his contract nor did anyone ever mention it.

But there has always been constant speculation about whether Bonaduce is going to make it to next week on the show.


Bonaduce isn't your typical radio personality. Who else in LA radio has had two criminal complaints made against him in the last 6 months? Who else has been forced by the LA City Attorney's Office to apologize on the air for threatening, on the air, a campaign of harassment against an LAUSD school principal? Last Friday he was late getting into the studio because he was ducking around the building trying to avoid a process server. His addition to the show last year caused a firestorm of hatred among hardcore Carolla fans which burns as bright to this day. There has been open and vocal speculation that if Bonaduce does come back Carolla won't.

DB has also been late numerous times. One time he showed up with blood on his head and a story that something fell on him. About a week later he was late once again and staged a fake traffic accident as an excuse. These weren't morning zoo pranks. He was serious. There has been speculation that he has been intoxicated while on the air and has been slipping back into substance abuse.

But opposing this is Jack Silver who loves Bonaduce and believes he's a great addition to the show.

That's why I might expect an announcement. To put to rest the speculation.

Don't know why they've made no "official" announcement, or if they plan to....or if they are still in negotiations. I've heard that he's signed, but I didn't hear that from Bob Moore or Jack Silver.

I do know that Danny is being paid only $350,000 in 2007 and the Loop in Chi threw a ton of money to get him to move, but KLSX stepped up to the plate to keep him. I also understand that he wants to stay in LA for potential TV and other entertainment opportunities.

Court documents that he filed in his divorce earlier this year has his employer listed as CBS Radio KLSX 97.1.
 
This are the same people who thought that FreeFM was a good idea, so why wouldn't they re-sign Danny boy?
 
Danny has made the show so much better with his stupid a** stories I know I listen more often now
 
There was a post on the Official Adam Carolla Show Message Board from someone identifying himself as Danny Bonaduce. It read in part, 'It's true, Adam has decided to leave the show." Shortly thereafter the message board was gone. Turned off. The website is still there for now.

Anyone have news?
 
Ratings ploy or possible feeler tactic (feeling out opinions to hear feedback)?

I have seen a lot of press go out over my career that was solely designed to get buzz going. Wonder if someone is up to that. Then there are those press releases that do deliver news that station heads sometimes are too spinless to deliver in person (SOME, not all).

Over the years I have gotten very skeptical about what I read any more.

2nd of all, where has his career gone since the days of The Partridge Family. That was 35-40 years ago.
3rd of all,what was up with that lame reality show he had on VH1?

Actually he probably has a better future than Corolla, who needed Jimmy Kimmel or Bonaduce to have an act.

Oh boy oh boy. Hate emails. Where do I begin? Joking. One thing I can say about Danny boy is that crap just comes out of his mouth. Like waiting for a train wreck. You have to wonder why some "reality" shows get any numbers, I think Danny Boy pulls off the same stunt. He may not say brilliant things but he has a twisted brain that comes off with some funny stuff. Actually the interplay between Danny and Adam is what I love. But I also have to ask, how is he on a morning show and this is his second one? Some people just land on their feet no matter what while others have to fight their way to the top.

1. This is about talent not looks. But way to show what matters to you.

2. His career went into Radio after the Partridge Family. That's why you hear him on the radio. He's been at it for a long time.

3. I don't recall a "Lame" show? I know he had a few shows that did fairly well, but maybe you were writing some hate mail then?
