Danny Bonaduce Released from Star 98.7

It's just been announced by Don Barrett that Danny Bonaduce is out at KYSR as of 10:00 am this morning. What's next for Danny and how will Star mornings sound without him? The "Star 98.7" morning show will be Jamie, Jack & Stench. Beginning Tuesday, Danny's former co-host Jamie White will be joined by board-op Jack Hine, and morning show producer Stench (Mike Roberts).
Interesting times. Hope Danny doesn't fall off the wagon because of this...

Judging by the buzz in the CC hallways, don't expect the Jamie, Jack & Stench show to remain intact for long. IN MY OPINION, the people who are saying Jamie is next to go are extremely trustworthy.

It's a shame they cut Danny first. I think he was the best part of the Star morning show, and it would've been interesting to hear him without Jamie for a while.

My guess is that he fall of the wagon exactly at 3580 Wilshire Boulevard, or whereever the New Viacom DeathStar is locaton on the Miracle Mile, with Jack Silver waiting for him, contract and morning shift in hand.

...say the Monday after Howard's gone?

spinnin' that wheel'o'speculation..

Danny was never really liked by those now in charge at CCU-LA. He was Jimmy de Castro's favorite son. That's been the death for many at CCU.

Fixing KYSR: Danny Bonaduce Released from Star 98.7

Star 98.7 has so many problems, and is so fixable.
* The morning show is anathema to the flow of the rest of the day.
Jamie is very high strung, shrill, and generally too difficult to listen to. The entire morning show should be replaced with something light and entertaining along the lines of Jeff and Jer - who anchored San Diego's Star 100.7 for many successful years.
* Lack of variety - this board talks about KRTH's tight rotation and small playlist. KYSR has a similar problem. It is too tight and limited in its playlist. Glenn raves about their weekend format. That spirit of a broader music mix, and aggressively responding to new music would help. Star should remain Modern AC but take on the approach of "You Heard it Here First". How about an LA Countdown on Fridays for the drive home?
* Stop the chatter - Of course cue card readers and automation are not the solution, but how about a KROQ approach. Those jocks are free to ad-lib and inject personality, but not excessively as on KYSR. I think this remains from when Ryan Seacrest anchored PM Drive, and the station has suffered as a result.

Re: Fixing KYSR: Danny Bonaduce Released from Star 98.7

I pretty much agree with Dave's comments. But let me add that I never liked Danny. His voice sounds
like grated glass. That is too much to take at 5:30 in the morning. And when I tune in it seems like
Jamie is carrying Danny.

That said, how 'bout this: wipe the slate clean. And instead of bringing in a Seacrest clone why not
hire an old timer who normally would not be associated with this type of music. Who am I thinking
of? GARY OWENS.

You are kidding right? Gary Owens is one of the industry's all-time greats, the best, but that's more than a stretch. He just does not fit the format. It's out of the box thinking I'll grant you that, but it just wouldn't work.

Yeah, all we have to do is through out the dumbasses in Congress who sucked in all the cash from Clear Channel(and others) in their campaign vacuums and then voted for media consolidation. And then they watched as the Secretary of State's son reshuffled the media deck to let the big contributers win all the licenses and kill real radio as we have known it all of its life.

Then we vote in some reasonable people in a real election that dosen't reak of Berlin c.1929... oh what non-Orwellian world am I living in? Resonable politicians? That's an oximoron or a bunch of regular morons in today's McWorld. To Hell with Clear Channel! FM is headed the way AM went with the advent of XM and Sirius. All you will hear on AM or FM is a bunch of religious whores begging for money for their God (word up, their God IS money).

Oh, Wait...Clear Channel is in on the Sirius and XM gig too...and they want YOU to pay monthly for what you got for free. AND once FM is dead do you REALLY think the satellite service will remain commercial free? YOU are too young or too stupid to remember how cable started out with A&E delivering Arts and Entertainment programming without commercials..or the censorship and McProgramming that commercials bring along with them. Now A&E (only one example) is CRAP FROM HELL. All this happened a long time ago and they hope you have forgotten or too young to know. That was in the good ol' days, kids. Way back when before the "War" on drugs, we were all stoned on cheap weed and STILL knew that Vietnam was an illegal war being lost by a crooked admistration. And we still had the balls and media to get the lying Dick (Nixon)tossed out of office and his Sec'y of State on a war criminal list so he can never leave the country.

WAKE THE *UCK UP! We've been sold to the Chinese (check how much of our war debt they own..it's on that new fangled Google thing), raped and beaten and we still haven't figured out that they have electrodes not only on a few Iraqi's nads, but ALL of us. But what would you expect out of ol' Bush and Dick but a good screwing of the populace suckers.

These useless media pimps at Clear Channel, et. al. are all about the buck and and mind contorl power and nothing else. There is no changing them without real regulation. What we have now is the rats in charge of the in charge of the mice in charge of the candy store.

Want real music and entertainment? Buy an Ipod, download your entertainment directly fom the artists over the internet when possible, never set foot into Wal-Mart where they censor what you can buy from them, and listen on, my friend, listen on....RADIO IS DEAD, not broken and the Easter resurection is freakin' a fairy tale.

Danny? Don't worry about him...he is making a career move back to TV as a one man reality show on how to screw up your life in 10 minutes or less and screw over your low selfesteem wife who is a sidekick headcase. Let the poor lil' sick *uck drown in his own vomit in the back seat of his car in silence. He was funny for awhile, Jamie was funnier when she was allowed (pre CC) to discuss her shaving habits and sex positions, in thin code, with listeners. She was told to hold back on the sex but Danny was encouraged to be a poster child of self-indulgent, self-destruction. Violence and metal illness can always play but don't bring no sex into it. Sex might cause us to lose the war, Dammit!

Bretzel...a long silenced LOCAL voice on the dial turned researcher and author.
