Danny Wright Just Sayin' "hey!"

Thought I'd post something after scrolling through some "where are they now?" stuff. Maybe hear from so old buddies. Maybe hear from some not-so buddies.
After being on the beach for well over a year after leaving WGAR in late 2000, I took my current job with Jones Radio here in Seattle. I do a syndicated all night show (cleverly called "Danny Wright All Night") and it's absolutely the hardest I've ever worked in radio. But there's been steady growth to show for it - somewhere around 112 affiliates now. Carried in Anchorage, Baltimore, Atlanta, Memphis, Norfolk, Cleveland area (WKFM - Milan), all over the place. Lots of room for growth. Syndicated radio is way different than "regular" radio and has its own pluses and minuses. Seattle is a very cool and unique place but I miss NE Ohio each day. As I read some of the posts, I can see how funny perception and perspective can be. Some of the stuff discussed did NOT happen the way it's laid out; however, some of the posters tell things I had no idea about and I was in the middle of it!

That's it - just dropping in to say "hey." I also post at the Listening Forum of Cleveland.com if y'all are ever checking that site out.

Danny,
Welcome to the board. As one who enjoys your insight on the Listening Party board, I am glad you decided to check in here. This board is more closely moderated than Cleveland.com, and we don't have to scroll through as much crap here in order to read the intelligent stuff. I will be looking forward to reading your musings.

Re: Yo bro!! Danny Wright Just Sayin' "hey!"

Danny,

Welcome! Good to have you here.

Not only am I a long-time huge fan, but I also had the pleasure of working with you for a number of years. When you and me last worked together the station was Number 1.

Unfortunately, my anonymity will have to suffice for now.

You will find this board a little more civil and professional than the Listening Party board. Sometimes, that baby tends to be a street fight!

HA HA HA! Wow ... someone who remembers all my big-shot Hollywood talk.

I'll never give up on Bob, Ohio. And I'm still writing. It's just real slow due to long hours and a big commute. But I've got a couple of new things I'm working on. I might be ready for social security by the time I sell a script, but I won't quit.

Dang - you made me smile!!!

Re: Yo bro!! Danny Wright Just Sayin' "hey!"

Hey X -

Thanks for the kind words - I'm sure it was a pleasure working with you as well. Who really has time to mess with these boards? We're all busy but I like radio and Cleveland too much to resist. There will always be a pull back to Cleveburg for me. It was home, man. I lived there longer than any other place.

Anyway - it should be fun posting here. Let's keep the conversation going whenever we have a chance!

Thanks, WIXY. And back at ya! The cleveland.com board CAN get a bit messy and I've really tried to avoid igniting any flames. Same here. Just good back-and-forth about Cleveland radio. So here we go - !

I do have one question however. What is the significance of chaajoad?

Re: chaajoad

Hey WIXY - I should probably change it to dannywright. Chaajoad is a mash-up of my wife's first name and her 3 sons. It's just easy for me to remember. Not trying to be clever or coy ...

Danny- Thanks, I was just being nosy. All the important people on this board (BTW I'm not) more than likely know it's you. Just keep on posting, and I will keep enjoying reading yours and other people's post, and hopefully not get in the way too much. To everybody reading this- Have a super week, and may God bless all abundantly.

Hey Danny! Great to hear things are going well for you in Seattle - what a great city...not to take anything away from my hometown of Cleveland, of course! I grew up listening to you on WGCL and then my jaw dropped when I got to work with you at 92Q. When I was 18 years old, PD Scott Howitt gave me the air name Scott James by splicing together the jingles of two jocks who were no longer at the station - Scott Miller and Jimmy James... I was stuck with that name for 7 years. Ironically, my real name is the one that sounds fake, Harry Legg. I've had my share of moving around and even stepped out of the radio side of the biz for a short while to be a record rep... I've had the good fortune to work in some great markets - Chicago, Los Angeles and now New York City at WKTU. I'm also doing the Image Voice for various stations throughout the country and being in NYC has given me the opportunity to voice for MTV, Showtime and others... My website is www.harrylegg.com. I feel very lucky to have grown up listening to great radio in Cleveland...so many talented jocks have been on the air in Cleveland - and you Danny were definitely one of my influences! Joe Bohannon was at GCL - now at B96 Chicago, John Landecker was at Power 108 (and I got to work with him), Great production/voice guys like Bob Brown and Bumper Morgan passed through GCL...Cat Thomas at Power 108 and so many others... I visit Cleveland frequently - my family lives there... Thanks for reaching out to old friends and aquaintances Danny! I wish you all the best!

Danny, I also grew up listening to you on G-98 and 92Q. You were amazing. I remember when 'GCL tried to put Uncle Vic on at night after you...man so many great talents in that place, but you were the best. I became a club jock, and had the opportunity to work with you on a few station nights at The Mining Company and Eddie's in North Olmsted. As a 19 year old kid, it was amazing experience to work with you. I did get into radio thanks to Scott James, and currently program a couple of stations in Northeast Ohio. The amazing thing to me about you Danny, was that as a Top 40 jock you were the best..then you switch formats, and become the best in the country format. Glad all is going well for you, but you are missed here on the Northcoast. Hey Harry/Hal/Scott hope all is well with you, too.
