Dark Day At CBS Radio

Wow, All Access is reporting 115 firings from CBS Radio on Wednesday.
Some high profile names too like Ken Kohl in San Francisco and KROQ GM Trip Reeb.

Still, they have a long way to go to catch up to some of the past liquidations at Clear Channel.
Joel Hollander is quoted as saying that no more cuts are expected. Supposed to be a one time deal...

amazing: even a CBS mass-firing promts a slap at CC

I wasn't taking a slap at CC. But it's natural that comparisons would arise considering how many
times CC has done the same thing. CBS trumps them with some of their choices though. I mean
Trip Reeb is a pretty successful GM, so that one was weird. But many companies have done this
recently. It's just that CBS & CC are the biggest, thereby getting the most attention...

Maybe Hollander is getting rid of GM's who he perceives might have the potential to replace him.

Most likely, though, he's just cutting some high salaries to get CBS ready for sale.

Hollander's time is coming and his Karma is going to maybe catch up with him too, because this thing that is CBS Radio is all on his shoulders now! Howard and Mel get the last laugh! Entercom should buy CBS Radio and
put it out of it's misery!

ENTERCOM?

LOl

Who's going to lend THEM the money to buy a company three times their size?. Get serious man.

Are you so young that you don't remember when Capital Cities bought ABC? You most likely would have said
the same thing back then also. But Capital Cities got the deal done and ABC was easily three times (Or More)the size of Capital Cities. On ABC news the deal was compared to a minnow swallowing a whale!

Entercom did not want to spend the 2.7 Billion to buy ABC Radio, Only 22 stations and the networks. They said it was Too Much Debt.

CBS has quite a few more I think, plus the network. Not Gonna be Entercom.
Not in play anyway.

Was listening to Mark and Brian yesterday and they said a format change is coming to TWO CBS radio stations. Interesting.
