One of my favorite actors of all time. I especially loved "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" and "A Christmas Story". He WILL be missed. R.I.P. Darren.

My first recollection of Darren McGavin was on "The Riverboat" TV series as Captain Holden from 1959-61.

His character in that movie reminded me of my dad in some ways. I remember towards the end of "The Six Million Dollar Man" pilot, Steve Austin was recovering from his first mission with the OSO(later OSI). Just prior to going back into electrosleep, Austin whispered something into McGavin's character's ear. Oliver Spencer replied, "Why, I haven't been called that since grammer school." Just something about the way Mr. McGavin delivered that line which still puts a grin on my face to this day.<P ID="signature">______________
